Social Media for CPAs and Other Professionals

Michael B. Allmon and I wrote an article titled “Social Media for CPAs” that was published by the California CPA Society. The article appeared in the California CPA Summer 2011 Technology and Business Guide as their lead story. In addition to answering the high level questions of “what is social media” and “why should CPAs care?”, we also described how to get started in social media and provided some quick hit suggestions.

This article is nearly three years old, but the insights we presented are still relevant today. This article was targeted at CPAs; however, the advice we presented is relevant to all professionals including lawyers, investment professionals and bankers. Further, the article points out that social media is about networking and sharing with your customers and prospects -- and professionals of all stripes can do a better job in this area and in building their personal brand.
