Family game nights are exciting around our house! Between the various teams and different games being played, there is never a dull moment. And isn’t that the point? Spending time interacting with each other instead of having everyone connected to a device builds relationships. Winning Moves takes Family Game Night to a new level. They have the classics that everyone one of us played when we were younger and a slew of new games to challenge even the toughest critic.
About Winning Moves
Winning Moves USA (WMUSA) is a leading maker of board games, card games, and puzzles. Since WMUSA’s first year of operation in 1995, the company has forged a close relationship with one of the world’s largest game companies, Hasbro, Inc., owner of Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley. WMUSA also has a great relationship with Seven Towns, Ltd. (the owners of the Rubik’s brand). As a result, many long-lived Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley games & Rubik’s puzzles are now marketed by WMUSA!
Classic Rummy Tiles
Stadium style racks that “step up” give each player a good view of their personal set of tiles. The easy-to-read tiles, with large, bold-printed numbers in Black, Blue, Green and Red, add to your enjoyment! Make sets or runs with your tiles and go out first for the win!
Deluxe Pente
First introduced in the 1970s, Pente is a contemporary strategy game based upon several closely related games that have been popular in Asia for centuries – most notably the game of Go! The object is simple – the first player to place 5 stones in a row or to capture 5 pairs of opposing stones is the winner.
Monopoly Advance to Boardwalk
Originally introduced in 1985 as the first ever Monopoly “spin- off!” Players compete to build multi-level, high rise hotels along the historic seaside boardwalk. The player with the most valuable property portfolio wins!
Monopoly The Card Game
Take the fun of Monopoly the board game + the familiar gameplay of Rummy and you’ve got Monopoly The Card Game! Players draw and trade cards to try and build the most valuable hand of Monopoly cards before any other player can do so. Property cards, Token cards, House and Hotel cards, Free Parking, Go and Wild (Mr. Monopoly) cards will add to your payoff.
Rubik’s Build It Solve It
Ever wanted to know how a Rubiks Cube is made? Now you can make your own and learn how to solve it at the same time!
Rubik’s Triamid
A triangular Rubiks puzzle – but with some key differences. There are of 10 individual pieces, four joining sections, and four colorful sides that need to be solved.
HINT: One of the features that makes the Rubik’s Triamid difficult for a first-time user is the fact that about one third of the pieces’ sides are hidden from view (they are inside of the Triamid). You will see many colors that aren’t important to solving the puzzle. To solve the Rubik’s Triamid, you must recognize which pieces are CORNERS and which pieces are EDGES. First, put the corners in their places and then solve the edges. Because of its versatility in moves, the Rubik’s Triamid can be solved from any starting position.
Pictureka! Card Game
Perfect for families, friends and parties, Pictureka! card game is great fun for all ages. There are 4 different ways to play and they vary in pace from calm to high-energy!
Clue Suspect Card Game
Use your hand of cards to determine the suspect, weapon and location of the crime. Was it Colonel Mustard in the Dining Room with the Knife? A true Clue experience is “in the cards!”
Cranium Cadoo
The original version is back by popular demand and today’s kids will be puzzling, sketching, sculpting, acting and code-cracking with the Cranium Cadoo game.
My Thoughts:
Because we are a larger family, game night at our house normally covers several rooms each with a different game in play. It is one of our favorite family activities, starting when the kids are young and really need help from an older player to participate. We also make sure to keep the competition friendly and have no sore winners or losers.
I like to mix up the Family Game Night games selection between different age ranges, difficulties, and time lengths. If one of the games requires more thinking and quiet analyzing the Classic Rummy Tiles or Deluxe Pente, then those games will be set up somewhere quiet like the dining or living room. The other games that are loud or verbal like Monopoly Advance to Boardwalk or Pictureka! Card Game, we tend to set up in the kitchen or family room. Even the grown children that leave home or go away to college still enjoy coming home for food and some friendly competition, whether with their parents or other siblings and spouses.
I encourage families to make time for a Family Game Night no matter how many kids they might have or their ages because it encourages non-screen time as well as other skills such as hand and eye coordination, reading, imagination, and even strategy. And with so many game choices from Winning Moves Games, there are titles for everyone to enjoy together.
Stock up your family game night with new games for hours of fun! All of these games and more can be purchased online at Winning Moves or at a local retail store near you.
