(Fan) Zines for Teens

Online via Zoom

What are zines? Where do I find them? Can I make one? Zines are self-published magazines that are popping up all over the place lately. And yeah, you can totally make one! In fact, in this workshop, we’ll make both a tiny mini-zine and a larger digest-sized zine! You’ll learn about zine history and the local zine scene, be inspired by hands-on time with a couple of zines, then make a mini-zine all in the first class! The next two classes will be devoted to creating a digest-sized fanzine – a zine about something you’re a fan (or NOT a fan) of! You’ll also get a list of places where you can copy your zine so you can share it with friends and family or even sell it!

Students should set aside 2-3 hours outside of class per week to work on their projects.
