Christmas Train, Christkindlmarkt and more to do in Wisconsin

The East Troy Electric Railroad's Christmas Train runs from the depot to "Santa's Workshop" at the Elegant Farmer.

East Troy: Christmas Train. Ride the East Troy Electric Railroad from the depot in East Troy to Santa's workshop at the Elegant Farmer, where children can take photos with Santa and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. Trains depart at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 25-26 and Dec. 2-3, 9-10 and 16-17. Tickets are $17.50 for adults age 15 and up, $15 for kids 3-14 and $5 for kids 2 and under. Egg Harbor: Holly Days. Activities throughout the weekend Nov. 24-25 include breakfast with Santa, a tree lighting, caroling, horse-drawn carriage rides and more. See eggharbordoorcounty.org.

Monroe: Christkindlmarkt. Browse hand-crafted works in this market modeled after traditional German ones. It's open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24-25 at Turner Hall. See turnerhallofmonroe.org.

North Freedom: Santa Express. Ride a train with Santa at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum Nov. 25-26. Rides are offered at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day. Tickets are $21 for adults, $20 for seniors (62+), $17 for students (13-17), $12 for kids (3-12) and free for kids 2 and under. See midcontinent.org.

Oconomowoc: German Christmas Market. Celebrate Christmas and the state's German heritage at this market Nov. 24-26 that includes polka bands, artisans and plenty of food and drink. Admission to the market is free; admission to the large Wintergarten Tent is $1. See germanchristmasmarket.org.

River Falls: River Dazzle. Kick off the holiday season from 1 to 7 p.m. Nov. 24 with a lighted parade, live ice carving, caroling, a chili crawl, horse-drawn wagon rides and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. See rfchamber.com.
