Hijacked vehicle recovered in Inanda
A white Hyundai H100 bakkie that was hijacked from Trenance Park in Verulam, KZN was recovered abandoned in Inanda, KZN.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from the owner of a bread delivery company requesting assistance after his driver informed him of the hijacking. The caller went on to explain that four suspects armed with firearms in a navy blue Opel Corsa bakkie approached the driver and a van assistant.
The robbers forced both the victims into the vehicle but threw the driver out shortly before they sped off. The driver then contacted his employer who activated the vehicle’s tracking unit.
Available Reaction Officers were dispatched to Inanda, KZN where they honed in on the signal. The bakkie was recovered abandoned. The suspects were in the process of cutting the safe when they fled. The van assistant was located by his employer while he was en route to the scene.
Both victims were not injured.
