While Oracle released Primavera Gateway over a week or so ago together with Primavera P6 R8.3 which you can read about here, today they formally announced it at COLLABORATE 13 which is being held in Denver, CO.
What is Primavera Gateway?
Oracle Primavera Gateway allows organizations of other enterprise systems, for example, Enterprise Resource Planning E(RP) and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), to integrate more easily with Primavera P6. This integration is bi-directional and comes complete with sample integration modules for SAP’s Plant Maintenance and Project System modules. These can be customized as well as used as start gin templates for creating integration with other systems.
Integration allows business to have a better view of data as it would naturally flow between these enterprise applications. In addition, organizations using Primavera Gateway can decide which system is the master system for specific types of data and they flow, reducing synchronizing conflicts and errors. Because we’re talking about synchronizing, only incremental updates are synchronized significantly reducing large data transfers. This is ideal for organizations who use ERP and EAM systems which typically involve huge amounts of data. All of this can be administered easily via a secure web interface as it’s deployed on a Weblogic server.
Primavera Gateway also comes with a job scheduling engine offering organizations control over when jobs are scheduled and how often. It also offers detailed monitoring and data logging.
Below is a typical example of data integration points with ERP/EAM systems.
Summary
We’re excited about Primavera P6 Gateway as it solves real critical issues that many large organizations face. Anytime a technology that supports the elimination of duplicate data, manual data input and the inevitable errors that come with this, is welcomed by us!
