The New and Improved Gmelius Extension

3 minute read

Gmail Blue1

Like wine and cheese, some things just get better with age. Back in 2012, we introduced you to an awesome Chrome extension for Gmail called Gmelius. Since then, they’ve rolled out lots of new, useful features that can save you time and improve your email workflow. Here’s a quick overview of the new and improved Gmelius.

First, head over to the Chrome Web Store. Search for Gmelius and install it. Here are a few of the things you can do with this extension:

Remove ads

Gmelius - disable ads

One of the first things you’ll notice is the ability to remove ads from your Gmail. Gmelius helps to remove advertising to ensure you have the cleanest possible view available.

Quickly see the types of attachments in emails

Gmelius - file type icon

Usually, the default icon for any attachment in Gmail is a paper clip. But Gmelius offers type-dependent attachment icons. So for example, you’ll see different icons for emails containing Microsoft Word documents, PDFs, Google Docs, etc. This way, you’ll instantly know what type of file is attached to a given email.

Schedule emails to send later

Gmelius - schedule emails

This is great when you’re communicating with people in different time zones and you don’t want your email to them to be buried at the bottom of their inbox where they might miss it. With Gmelius, you can schedule when you want the email to be delivered. You can select a day, time zone, and time, so that your email arrives exactly when you intend it to.

Snooze emails

Gmelius - snooze emails

If you don’t have time to immediately reply to an email, you can snooze it. You’ll have time to complete other higher priority tasks, but you can rest assured that you’ll be reminded in the future of the email, so that all tasks get completed eventually in the right order according to their priorities.

No prying eyes here: Block email tracking attempts

Gmelius - tracking email

Gmelius also offers some important additional security to your email account. There are a lot of software options out there that reveal information like such as when, where, and how many times you’ve read an email. Gmelius can block this type of intrusion, helping to keep your email habits private.

We’ve just scratched the surface here today, but Gmelius has lots of other great features that can enhance your Gmail experience. It’s a free extension, but you can also choose to upgrade to Gmelius Premium if you’d like. Learn more about Gmelius here.
