Growing up, L.V. Lewis wanted to be an internationally known rock star, but unfortunately, lived in the wrong part of the country to pursue that career (and neither American Idol nor The Voice were available then). An early love for the written word gave her the plan B she sought. Now she pens romance novels that let her live vicariously through rock stars and other fascinating archetypes.

Heart of Knives by L.V. Lewis

The Complex is domed society, trying to restore peace to all the species of Metas and humans by making them live together.

Princess Amarie goes to Lorn to become the Elf ambassador in "The Complex". Her financee, Fairy Prince Erihstall is also at the complex.

Amarie and Erihstal try to strength their marriage commitment with a strong bond formed by a love spell. A human body guard, Gary, thinks she is under attack and jumps in the middle of the spell...forming a bond with Amarie.

Erihstal is just vile, thinking only of himself.
Amarie is really caught up in doing what is expected of her no matter the cost.
Gary Locke, the human body guard caught in the middle and now in love with Amarie.

It is all tied to deeper mechinations to destroy the peace, the reason for The Complex in the first place.

HEART OF KNIVES was imaginative but didn't have enough character development, even for a novella length read.

I think I would of appreciated it more in a 1st person telling.

Fast paced, packed full of characters that fly by and a glimpse into THE COMPLEX and its clash of worlds, I'm glad I read it.

I received this ARC copy of Heart of Knives from Jungle Fever Press. This is my voluntary and honest review. Heart of Knives is set for publication June 27, 2017.

A prince, a princess, and a soldier walk into a war....

Princess Amarie, an Elf, betrothed to the Fairy Prince Erihstall, becomes magically intertwined with a human soldier, Gary. To say that the prince is unhappy with this unexpected hiccup in his plans would be an understatement. Princess Amarie is left to depend on Gary for her life while continuing to work towards peace between the humans and the Metas.

Heart of Knives is a story of The Complex. It can be a bit predictable in some ways, but that doesn't take away from the story. It has some familiar setups, but it is not any one story retold. There is some romance, some action, and a lot of fantasy - which can allow for many different readers be able to enjoy it.

Heart of Knives The Complex Book 0
by LV Lewis, The Complex Book Series
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow! It's so much packed into this book. Where to start there is Witch-action, Witches, suspense, Evil-Demen and the love that will bring it all together, this book will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It offers a quick-witted and enchanting tale that not only proves opposites attract, but that sometimes you find what you are looking for in the most likely of places. What a story it features Leona Thevenet and Carrick Dragoe. Leona is a Earthborn witch she is prideful, stubborn and beautiful, she will also inherit the throne if she can't find her mother. Carrick is a Dragon Guardian who has been falsely imprison by the Dragon King, but now the King wants to make a bargain with Carrick. The King want the Trillium Queen killed and he will grant Carrick his freedom. But when the two meet Leona thinks Carrick is a irresistible renegade and their chemistry is blazing hot, provocative, intoxicating, intimidating and now Carrick knows the price of his freedom is too high. Oh my this is the first book I have read by L.V. Lewis and she has created a tale that will have your head spinning and your heart thumping, with a good dose of fearless and strength for the young Queen. But for the Dragon King there is disgust and contempt for the bargain that reeks havoc in her life. An amazing story, that l really enjoyed the book. L.V. Lewis is a wonderful writer, I'm happy that read this book, I am totally hook and that just from reading the beginning. I couldn't put my reader down until I finished. All I can say is you don't want to miss it. There are surprises all over the place, I enjoyed feeling like I'm sitting on pins and needles as I read to the end. I didn't forget there's Iots of drama, intrigue with some steamy sexy heat. This is a love story you won't forget. A PHENOMENAL book to read that I highly recommend. I voluntarily reviewed this book. Because I enjoy sharing my thoughts with my fellow readers.

"Living under a domed community can only mean one thing for the Humans and Metas. Chaos."

Heart of Knives is one of the many novellas within The Complex series and like the others is enjoyable but I do need to say that sadly this wasn't one of my favourites of the series, but definitely plays an integral part to the story. Princess Amarie Vanyarin, the Elf ambassador of The Complex and Fairy Prince Erihstall Habbernock are set to marry, whilst trying to strengthen their mystical bond to each other Amarie's unsuspecting bodyguard, Gary Locke is struck by the spell and instead is the one to form a bond with the princess.

There were some parts of the story that I found jumped around a little too much and the flow just didn't seem to settle for me. Whilst I enjoyed the characters I wish there had been more development for them all but that can happen with novellas sometimes. Overall I did enjoy the book even if I felt some areas were lacking, if you have read any of the other stories from The Complex series I would definitely recommend giving this a read too.

I have read a number of Complex books, some great, some average and some bad. Sadly this one falls in the average/bad range for me. The thing that stands out most to me is the poor formatting - how the perspectives are written, working out whose perspective you are in, etc. There are too many character perspectives in this book and it flicks from view point to view point with no differentiation between whose head you're in. The author has tried to make this book more complex than it needs to be, it'd be much better if it was written from either one character's perspective or the two main characters alternating perspectives - it would have worked much better for this short story.
Also, hate to be a bummer but I found this story incredibly predictable and boring - it was so easy for me to put this book down and then not want to pick it up again at all.

This is the first book of the complex I have had the pleasure to read and it is a really great read. You don't have to read more of it to figure out what is going on. It seems more like it is just what is going on in one aspect of the Complex. I loved this story of betrayal and magic gone astray and things most foul. The author takes the time to teach as she guides us thru the twist and twirls of her story. Great read with intrigue and action and some loving too. All in all a read I would recommend and not just for fantasy and sci-fi fans.

I'm not a fan of third-person POVs in present tense, it feels weird. Usually, I can push through and enjoy the story but this book was not the case.
The narration was dispassionate, detached and mostly chaotic (one sentence was about one character, the next sentence focused on someone else and so on).

I like the Complex series but this story I couldn't finish.

The present tense is awkward and sounds like a narrator. I quit before 25%. Maybe the prose smooths out but it's not for me to find out.

This was badly written. This story jumped from one thing to the next without any logical flow or explanation.

Adventure, magic and a dose of romance. Makes for a great story, that will have you flipping the pages to the very end.

An Elven Princes, a human body guard and a dark plot to kill them all.

Princess Amarie Vabyarin is now an ambassador for human rights. Whether the meta people like it or not. There are a quite a lot who are against it. And can't wait to dish the princess up on a silver platter to the enemy's leader who ever that may be. With threats from all sides who is she safe with any more?
The people who promised to protect her?
Her fiance that's a fairy prince?
Or her human bodyguard, who got hit with a lovers spell?
Just who will save her from herself and that of her assassin?
