Authorities identify suspect who was shot, killed by police in Lower Paxton Township

Update: Autopsy consistent with witness statements in police shooting

The suspect who was shot and killed Friday night after a chase through the woods with police officers has been identified as 20-year-old Skyler Stewart, Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico said today.

Stewart, who was shot in Lower Paxton Township, was wanted by police for an assault and shooting they said took place Thursday night off Jonestown Road. Marsico said that Stewart lived in the same area.

Marsico previously said that Stewart pulled a gun on a detective Friday night inside a residence after police arrived to serve an arrest warrant on him.

Stewart then took off through a wooded area and wounded a police K-9 by shooting him in the neck. The K-9 is expected to make a full recovery.

A Lower Paxton Township police officer shot Stewart, who was transported to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He died there shortly after his arrival.
