The Institute will be hosting an international conference on the current status and conservation of the eel. The aims of the conference are to bring together leading fishery scientists, conservationists, fisherman and regulators to highlight the important role that this fish plays socially, ecologically and economically across Europe
There will be sessions on the following subjects.
- Regulatory Framework
- Eel Management Plans. Southern Europe
- Eel Management Plans. Northern Europe
- Sustainability
- Conserving the Eel.
- Management Solutions
- Science and Technology
- Socio Economic Importance of the Eel
As part of the conference there will also be a boat trip on the Thames as well as an early morning trip to the famous Billingsgate Fish Market.
We are pleased to announcce that we have now added a closing reception to the programme. This will take place in the aquarium of London Zoo and is kindly been provided by the Zoological Society of London.
