It wasn’t my fault. My actions should’ve been applauded, but instead, I was punished for it; for speaking up. I was the one that had to transfer to a place I should never have had to go. I didn’t think my first day would go without a hitch in the slightest, but from the moment he walked into the building, bruises decorating his sharp features, I knew I’d taken a nose-dive straight into hell. Quinn Dexter hated almost everyone, including me, so when he propositioned me to help him out with a problem, I knew I’d regret every second of it. Only, I wasn’t so sure I’d walk away unscathed.
Quinn
I hated this place and pretty much everyone in it. They’d kicked me while I was down. But, even bleeding and broken, I’d fought my way back. Now, they all wanted a piece of me, the fighter, the bad boy, but they were getting nothing. When she walked through the door, her ‘screw-the-world’ attitude radiating from her, I knew she was exactly what I needed. When an unwanted advance had me coming to her rescue, I knew my plan would help us both. I just needed her to agree. And I couldn’t wait. A few weeks, that’s all I wanted, and Kinsley Jensen could go back to hating the world along with me. But when I found out why she’d come to Broken Hollow, I saw red. Nobody touched my girl.
Hate meets resentment in this explosive story of revenge, justice, and falling in love.
Quinn is a 112k+ word standalone romance novel, and it strictly for mature readers. There are scenes that include fighting, and conversations of assault. No cheating, and guaranteed HEA.
What an amazing read❣️❣️❣️❣️ Although it was slightly predictable, it was an incredible page turner story where the author’s writing was fabulous. Both characters and plot were skilfully created and developed, creating a plethora of feelings and emotions. Quinn ana Kinsley’s story was not an easy journey due to their backgrounds, but managed to reach their HEA leaving me in a state of bliss!!!
Wow! I was not expecting to love this book so much. This wasn’t your typical bad boy romance. Quinn is the opposite of a manwhore and he didn’t come from money. His upbringing was heartbreaking and is the reason he became a fighter. He has a chip on his shoulder, and for good reason. Everyone seems to want a piece of him - the same people who turned their backs on him when he needed people the most. Kingsley isn’t your typical damsel in distress heroine. She is feisty and can hold her own. What started off as a mutually beneficial arrangement for them started to develop into more, and it was delicious witnessing the discovery of their true feelings for one another. I wouldn’t call this a bully romance, but both MCs definitely hated each other at the start. No insta love here, and that’s just how I like it. This was an angsty and satisfying read with hot sex scenes and good fight scenes. I’d love to read more books by this author.
2.4 stars I enjoyed the last part of this. It took 30 pages for them to meet. I felt like I was missing something for over half the book, not understanding what he'd done or what his whole plan was. Quinn was really unlikable for most of this, I don't like it when hero's taunt, ridicule, or laugh at the heroine. I get his issues, with woman fondling him, people who were cruel to him when he was abused and neglected as a kid, now wanting to be his friend. They fought pretty much every time they were together, then she got turned on, they had sex, they would fight some more. I'm not sure why she would be attracted to him and his attitude. Both of these characters had a lot of rage. What happened to her was so not fair. The first real bonding moment was when he took her to his mothers grave. They never had a date but he finally started telling her about how his dad abused his mom, then when she died, him. I don't truly understand why he got away with so much. He treated facility like crap, had illegal fights, and used violence to get revenge/justice. I also didn't get much satisfaction out of any other friends she tried to make. Their fights were so hot and cold and unnecessary but they finally told each other how they felt, and he let out his vulnerable side, even blushing some. Sometimes this was so high school. Her mom was in her life way more than other seniors in college life since she lost her uncle and dad and how the school shunned her after the guy attempted to assault her. They never used a condom, and she wasn't on birth control. I'm not sure why this wasn't an issue?
Quinn is stereotyped as your basic bad boy. All the boys fear/respect him and all the girls want him. The facts are he simply doesn't like people in his space and his loyalty seems to only goes to his bestfriend Josh and roommate Layton. Kinsley is forced to change colleges. So when she moves to Broken Hollow, she also doesn't want to be around people. She wants to be left alone . Instead she becomes Quinn's focal point and it seems he loves to be in her space. What starts off as a hate friendship and an odd plan turns into more. Quinn starts to realize Kinsley is the only girl who doesn't see him as the bad boy and only wants him for eye candy. This is the my first read from this author and I really hope I get Josh's story!!
What a great story! I loved the characters in this book. Quinn with his cocky attitude and Kinsley with her newly found confidence. It was easy reading with a brilliant twist at the end which made this book so incredible. The raunchy scenes really showed the undeniable connection between the two which they tried to fight. Its a shame there isn't a spin off with one of the other characters in the book - Josh would have made a great read !
I will say this book was not what I expected. It was Hate/Love relationship. Kinney has change school and the bad boy of the school has set his eyes on her. Quinn life is the circle and with that is a certain detail everyone wants him but he doesn't. The one he wants hates his guts and tell hims straight up. Josh is always trying to protect his buddy/brother and doesn't think he will get through to Kinney. When things start to happen the mystery rider on the bike will slowly melt the ice around her heart. This was a wonderful read with some great characters that supposed or opposed Quinn. Highly recommend to read to today if you love twist of relationship from hate to love for life.
This book kept showing up in my recommendations and I finally got to reading it. It did NOT disappoint. I am not usually the one to pick up a romance book unless it's PNR, but considering how much this book was being thrown my way screaming "read me" I had to give it a try. I've read plenty of romance and I would have to say that I might actually be in love with a fictional character in this case.
Quinn is a fighter. He's rough, tough, and mean. Coming from an abusive background, he shoves away relationships and blows off steam beating in people's faces for money. The fact that he calls himself cliche right off the bat just makes it better. Yeah, he was cliche, but damn was he a hot mess of sexy kind of cliche. Kinsley is messed up too. She avoids relationships and seems suspicious and bitter of just about everyone and it doesn't take long for these two explosive personalities to catch wind of each other.
To get his annoying groupies off is back, Quinn stages a relationship with Kinsley, about the only girl who DOESN'T want to jump his bones, but their fake relationship starts to wobble on the edge of being very real pretty quick. I have to say the story was predictable, but that didn't stop me from sitting up till 4am reading to know if I, as the reader, would get what I wanted. I was so in love with the characters that I could not stop thinking about what would happen next. Quinn's anger issues and his alpha personality was sexy and that quick wit made me laugh out loud more than once. And Kinsley is not a force to be reckoned with. I gravitate toward strong females and I was pleased to see that she could hold her own and didn't take any sh!t, especially from Quinn, but she also had an incredibly vulnerable side that made her pure.
I am ALWAYS one for a good enemies to lovers story. Quinn and Kinsley had such amazing chemistry I felt like I was living the life with them. This book may have expanded my genre preferences a little.
This book is insanely good. Hot, steamy, angry and intense... definitely intense! Quinn is the epitome of Alpha bad boy... my type of book boyfriend! And the fiercely firefly that is Kinsley definitely gives him a run for his money.
I love this author; love her work. Every book I’ve read of hers has been AMAZING! And this one has to be my FAVOURITE! (Sorry, Lucian Mortez ;) ) Quinn is gritty and full of anger, doesn’t do people (I know the feeling) and has people pawing him because he’s a fighter.... can’t say I blame them much either; he’s dreamy after all!! Kinsley is also full of anger because of something that happened at her first college, and I can’t say I blame her either. But it took me a while to like her because she was just snappy and rude. But her sense of humour was brilliant and her banter with Quinn was genius. These two had my head spinning and I swear my brain has whiplash, but it was totally worth it!
The only issue I really had was the ‘intimate scenes’ were too long and I had to skip a little of it because I find it repetitive in places.
The style of writing is like no other; intense and full of humour which makes for an incredible read. I highly recommend giving this a try because you wouldn’t regret it.
Remember though, I claim Quinn... I figuratively licked him, so he’s mine. Enjoy!
This is a trope that I've read before, but it has been a while. Though the story line wasn't overly unique, the characters were well written and kept me very engaged. They really drove the book forward and made me want to keep reading. I was committed to them and seeing their struggles resolved. There were a few twists at the end that I didn't anticipate.
I think in the midst of the MeToo movement, many of us women can say some man has done us wrong in a way we didn't ask for or deserve. The spectrum is broad, but even the groping many of us have experienced at one time or another is unwarranted. The idea of someone righting those wrongs or seeking retribution on our behalf is extra swoony in light of the current political climate we are living in.
So.. where can I get my own Quinn? 'Cause.. sign me up for that!! Kinsley and Quinn have both been through some crappy things. Each different, but no less crappy. Maybe they see that in each other. I loved reading their hate to love story. I'd be down for more, for sure!
Also.. the guys at the end. Is there more to this?
Great all round story . Great characters and all their banter. Very well written and I went with all the emotions the story brought out. Fighting some bullying sex all coming together in a great love story
I completely forgot to review this! Wow, so emotional and thought provoking. Loved the story and the way these two characters dealt with their painful experiences. The fights were fantastic and so detailed I felt like I was there watching them. Brilliant.
This author never disappoints in writing a fantastic story that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. You might cry, you might laugh & you might throw your kindle out of frustration but that end... That's what's gonna getcha!
I felt confused reading this book... confused because it says the characters are in college but it feels like the book was written first with them being in High School and someone told her they should be College so minor things were changed. Example: 1. Leading Lady has to transfer colleges and her Mom has to move with her so she can transfer to another school. Why? She is supposedly 22 why would her Mom need to move with her? 2. She transfers from a 4 year university to a "4 year Community College" O.o what... once again would have made sense for her to transfer to a new High School OR to another 4 year but a Community College is 2 years not 4. 3. The Community College is set up like a High School with a Principle, main building with an admin office where they track your attendance etc 4. Her Mom is worried she may be having sex and so her Mom continues to check on her when she has someone over to ensure they aren't having sex. Come on she is 22... once again would make sense if she was lets say 17? 5. All the Students have lunch together in the cafeteria in between classes. Once again High School setting not a College thing.
I could go on and on about the odd "College" vs "High School" writing... I wish she would have just placed them in High School because it kept me distracted from the story.
To have been able to be apart of this journey, was absolutely incredible
This book for me stood out situAtion himself and all the troubles he went through. Then and poor Kinsley's shocking experience, the two www certainly tested.
Their connection was off the charts. Their story, testing. But, a beautiful story.
I can't wait for 2020 and what that brings for Dawn.
2,5 stars. The story had so much potential. I enjoyed it but the first half of the story felt a little flat and i found it difficult to get into it. I liked Kingsley she was strong but her mother treated her like a high schooler and not an adult (she is 21 not 16!!!). The whole atmosphere felt more like high school and not university/college like. I wanted more mature and adultish interactions. The story had many inconsistencies and less information about things that were important and sometimes I felt i was missing parts about the story. Quinn was the typical tortured, gruff and dark hero and i really liked him. He was my kind of hero (not a manwhore yay!!!!) I loved the sexy times with so much feeling and intensity but I didn't like the no condom or contraceptive state of mind. I wanted to love this book but it needed some changes.
First 20% nothing happened. The intro was too long in my opinion. Almost DNF because of that.
I wouldn't characterised this book as hate to love story because the main characters did not really hate each other. They didn't have any reason for it. What they sensed was an intense attraction that they fought against for different reasons. She fought it because she was traumatised and had issues with trust and he fought it because of his fear of rejection. It wasn't a bad premise but it was poorly executed. It seemed unconvincing to me.
On a + side the kissing scenes where really great compensating a little for bad writing😏.
I couldn't shake the filing that writer wasn't quite sure what exactly he wanted to convey with this story or he was unexperienced enough to do so.
Not the usual cut and pasted dialogue, refreshing! Kinsley kicked out of a prestigious college for turning in a male student who sexually assaulted her, devastated and betrayed her family moves away and she begins her senior year at another college. underground fighting star Quinn rules campus but loathes his fans and after meeting kinsley and her running off mouth he makes a deal with her…. My only negative is the ending dragged, 3 chapters too many and the lack of condom use seemed off for twenty somethings to continually have unprotected sex was hard to believe.
I really enjoyed Quinn and Kinsley's story. It was loving and crazy, fierce and forgiving. These two lit up the pages with their passion. Quinn is a fighter to make money and get his built up anger out. Kinsley is a transfer student with a tragic past. Together they are magic!
I throughly enjoyed this enemies to lovers genre both heroine and hero were feisty and complicated both had things happen that were out of there control but they came together perfectly and the chemistry was off the charts
