When we talk about tourism in the future, the first thing that comes to our mind are robots or planes which speed resembles teleportation. What if we tell you that we are right?
In an era where technological innovation abounds, tourism must go hand in hand with new advances to ensure visitor satisfaction.
For this reason and to increase the efficiency of services, the tourism sector is starting to be more and more advanced. Although we cannot guarantee what is going to happen in a few years, we introduce you to a series of inventions that are going to revolutionize the sector:
We start with Qatar Airways, a pioneer in introducing the acclaimed A350. The main characteristic of this novel aircraft is its bird form; its wings are transformed during flight, continuously adjusting to changing conditions. It should be noted that it is composed of 60% lightweight materials, which reduces fuel consumption and allows a much lower weight per passenger. Among the different aircrafts of the airline, we can also find the Boeing 777X. It will be the largest twin-engine airplane in the world and the tips of its wings will be angled and collapsible, also achieving significant fuel savings.
Continuing with the planes, who would not want to move from one continent to another in less than half an hour? The Canadian engineer Charles Bombardier can make this dream possible with the design of Antipode, which will be able to make flights from New York to London in 11 minutes. This aircraft would exceed ten times the speed of sound and would have capacity for 75 passengers. There are still some loose ends, such as the great noise that it would make and the excessive prices, but still this idea has not been dismissed.
With regard to virtual reality, it will also be an important innovation in the not so distant future. The Skyscanner report for 2024 predicts that portable technology (such as Google Glass) will evolve to such a tiny device that it will fit into a contact lens and provide immediate translations. Virtual reality will also give us the opportunity to “try out” a trip without the need to travel to the destination.

Finishing with the hotel sector, we move to Nagasaki, Japan, where we will find the Henn-na Hotel. It is the first hotel completely composed by robot staff and it is said that this modality of accommodation will revolutionize the sector.
