WHEN IT ALL STARTED...
  • September 1, 1905 Saskatchewan was established
  • 1912 Legislative Building in Regina officially opened
  • Our flag, designed by Anthony Drake, was adopted September 22, 1969
CONSTRUCTION TIDBITS
  • 1920-1940 Saskatchewan upgraded from mud roads to paved roads.
  • 1949 Rural Sask started to get electricity.
  • 1968 The Gardiner Dam finished construction; it's one of the world's largest earth-filled dams 
DID YOU KNOW….
Three of Canada’s largest and most successful contractors had their roots in Saskatchewan:
  • PCL, originally Poole Construction, was founded in 1906 in Stoughton
  • Graham Construction, originally P.W Graham and Sons Construction, was founded in 1926 in Moose Jaw
  • Bird Construction, originally Bird, Woodall & Simpson Ltd., was founded in 1920 in Moose Jaw
RIDER NATION
  • 1910 the Regina Rugby Club was formed, the start of organized football
  • 1924 the name changed to Regina Rough Riders
  • 1948 is when the Riders became provincially owned/operated and were officially named Saskatchewan Roughriders
  • Riders have won the Grey Cup in 1966, 1989, 2007, 2013
