Calling All Designers!
Are you a teenage budding designer, stylist or model who is passionate about a greener future and better working conditions? Compete in the Ethical Fashion Show- a Girls Inc. competition that requires teens to create a high-fashion outfit using only second-hand clothing. In addition to promoting recycling and receiving prizes valued up to $100 from popular stores such as Crossroads and Aphrodite's Closet, all competitors will be able to get one-on-one input from top-notch people in the fashion industry, such as Charleston Pierce, a professional model coach who has worked with celebrities like Tyra Banks.
All contestants must be teenagers (either in high school or middle school) who are willing to travel to Alameda, CA. Free workshops will be held to discuss rules and financial aid. Additional workshops will be held to teach contestants the basics of clothing altering and style. Possible grants of up to $50 are available to contestants if they complete the portfolio correctly (instructions are emailed after they sign up).
DEADLINE FOR SIGN-UPS IS MARCH 31ST. Outfits are due the day of the runway, May 31st. The runway will be at South Shore Center in Alameda.
