Jack Wighton says the current Canberra Raiders will represent legendary Don Furner Snr every day

The Canberra Raiders players will attend Don Furner Senior’s funeral next week and Jack Wighton says they will represent the man who helped build the club they play for every day.

"The whole club's representing him every day," Wighton said. "I think that when we do our best and try our hardest, [then we] go a long way to living that. It's very sad mate. A bit of history. Furner's a massive name in this club."

“It’s the best way to do it unless you have a ready-made coach there to take over, which most clubs don’t,” Bennett said.

'Please hold on': Don Furner Jnr’s grand final week plea to Canberra Raiders legend dad

Canberra officials are weighing up how best to honour club icon Don Furner before Friday's round-one clash against the Gold Coast, including plans for a special tribute to the Raiders great on their jersey.
