The Camp Nou hosts the most important congress for football medicine and science in the world

Dr. Jordi Monés inaugurated the ‘International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology’, which brings 2,500 delegates and close to 200 speakers together this weekend

The best specialists in the world of sports medicine will be at the Camp Nou this weekend attending the International Conference on Sports Rehabilitation and Traumatology, which was inaugurated this morning in the stadium’s Grandstand. This is the congress’ 26th edition and it is the first time it has been hosted in Barcelona. It is considered to be the most important in the field of sports medicine and over 2,500 delegates from 91 different countries will be in attendance to hear 200 speakers in various locations of the blauagranas’ installations.

Dr. Jordi Monés, Barça Innovation Hub commissioner, gave the institutional welcome to the delegates and briefly explained the BiHub project which aims to become the most important centre for knowledge and innovation in the sports industry in order to create value for the Club and society in general. The project will allow FC Barcelona to innovate, generate, attract, manage and share knowledge.

After this, Stephano della Villa, President of the medical group Isokinetic spoke. They are the Club’s scientific partner for this event and they are world leaders in the field of sports injuries, treatment, orthopaedic rehabilitation and research. They have over 30 years experience in the treatment of patients in their eight clinics across Europe.

This edition of the congress focuses on the environment of the future in football medicine and includes an extensive scientific programme, with close to 200 conferences and 340 presentations. Subjects such as the epidemiology of the most frequent muscle injuries, the importance of the image in the diagnosis of injuries, new treatments, regenerative medicine, preventive methods, and the latest innovations in biomechanics and neuroscience.

The presence of the leading experts in the field of fooball medicine is an excellent opportunity for an exchange of information between young specialists and experienced professionals in the field.

Agreement to coedit the magazine ‘Apunts. Medicina de l’esport’

FC Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya have signed an agreement to coedit the magazine Apunts. Medicina de l’esport, which is a digital publication that is the oldest Catalan magazine in the field of sport medicine.

In an event in the Presidential Box attended by the Barça Innovation Hub commissioner, Dr. Jordi Monés; the Generalitat’s secretary general for Sport, Gerard Figueras; the Club’s executive director, Òscar Grau; the director for professional sports and FCB Knowledge, Albert Soler; the agreement was signed.

From now on the two institutions will coedit the magazine which is published digitally four times a year in Catalan, Spanish and English. The objective is to make this digital scientific publication one of the best in the field of sports medicine and to use it to present Barça Innovation Hub’s medical projects.
