LibreOffice 4.0 Adds Better Collaboration and Text Comments, Plus a Ton of Other New Features

Windows/Mac/Linux: Free and open source office suite LibreOffice got a major update today. LibreOffice 4.0 can attach comments to selected text in documents, import Visio and Microsoft Publisher files, get Firefox Persona themes, and much more.

Nearly 1,500 code changes from contributors have been reviewed and merged with LibreOffice. Many of the major feature changes and additions improve the suite's interoperability with other applications.

For example, it now integrates with Content Management Systems using the CMIS standard, can import ink annotations from Word documents, and integrate with Unity. Several performance improvements are here as well, when it comes to loading files, redrawing images, loading spreadsheets with formulas, and more.
