Sign Up for One of Our Intro to UDL Self-paced Courses
CAST offers two self-paced course options that provide participants with an introduction to UDL, both titled: UDL1: A Framework for Addressing Learner Variability: Theory Into Practice.

In the "Facilitated Self-paced" course you can work at your own pace but have the benefit of interacting with a CAST facilitator, participating in discussions and completing a course project where you can apply the UDL Guidelines to a lesson in your own context. There is also a "Self-paced" learning option of UDL1: A Framework for Addressing Learner Variability: Theory Into Practice. In the self-paced course you can manage your own learning process and take advantage of our Online Learning Experience Guide to help you navigate the course.

Using UDL to Design Standards-Based Lessons
The UDL framework can be used to proactively design lessons that address learner variability. Using UDL guidelines, teachers can integrate flexible options and supports that ensure that standards-based lessons are accessible to a range of learners in their classrooms. This article, written by Kavita Rao and Grace Meo, presents a process that teachers can use as they develop standards-based lesson plans. Kavita Rao is part of the CAST UDL Cadre and an associate professor at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa College of Education. Grace Meo was the former Senior Director of Professional Learning and Outreach Services and managed CAST’s professional learning programs for preK-12 teachers and administrators.
