A welcome development on the four-wheeled front: The forces behind the food truck pods at Second and Pike and in South Lake Union are organizing several more throughout central Seattle. 

According to Amy Novak, who works closely with Buns owner Stewart Chung in assembling these fleets, four pods are set to launch in March or April. The downtown core will get two more: one at Second and Virginia, another at the foot of the Harbor Steps on Western Avenue and University Street. Georgetown will see its first fleet at 6100 Fourth Avenue South (in front of Pacific Market Center), as will SoDo at 2918 First Avenue South (next to Rejuvenation).

Each of the pods will host two or three trucks, and all of them will operate during weekday lunch hours. The Harbor Steps location will also run on the weekends, both day and night. 

Pods like these go a long way in fostering a vibrant street food culture. As any mobile operator will tell, you securing a parking spot in the downtown core is a challenge, to say the least, so good on these guys for easing the troubles (and thank you on behalf of downtown office drones).
