A number of books by Australian and New Zealand authors are featured in the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Best Fiction for Young Adults list for 2013. They are:

  • Graffiti Moon (Cath Crowley, Pan Macmillan)
  • Sea Hearts, published in the US as The Brides of Rollrock Island (Margo Lanagan, A&U)
  • Team Human (Justine Larbalestier & Sarah Rees Brennan, A&U)
  • Froi of the Exiles: The Lumatere Chronicles (Melina Marchetta, Viking)

The annual list, selected by members of YALSA’s Best Fiction for Young Adults Committee, highlights books published in the US in the past 16 months that are recommended reading for ages 12 to 18. The books must ‘meet the criteria of both good quality literature and appealing reading for teens’. To view all 202 titles selected, including the top 10 titles, visit the website here.
