The charms of setting up home in the southern counties

Hattie Coates, partner at our Storrington office, looks at local property markets in Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire.

Most of us like to stay within reach of friends, families, work and schools when we move home according to research from conveyancing service My Home Move. Their findings show that on average about 70% of people buy their next home within just 20 miles from their current home.

Our own research matches this almost exactly and it’s one of the reasons we prioritise local knowledge within our branches. Henry Adams now has an extensive network of 16 offices across Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire, with access to thousands of buyers at any given time.

Understanding local communities is a central part of our role, as is knowing which are the excellent schools or sports facilities, and of course a detailed understanding built up over many years about what’s happening with the local property markets - right down to individual hamlets and even specific roads.

We’re lucky to be working in such a fabulous area which makes it easy to see why people would want to move here or why they like to stay.

The prettiest villages, South Downs National Park, excellent shopping, easy access to London or the coast, the sailing communities and Goodwood are just a few of the reasons given by our many potential buyers about why they want to live in the area.

With a wide range of property from new apartments to substantial country houses, we have something to offer almost every buyer whether they’re new to the area or are already enjoying living in Sussex, Surrey or Hampshire.

Location is the number one factor when choosing a new home and we can’t think of a better setting than along this stretch of the country.

So if you are thinking of selling, letting or you’re just curious to find out more about the local property market, just get in touch for more details. Hattie can be reached directly at harriet.coates@henryadams.co.uk.
