Here’s why your enterprise can trust Microsoft Azure with your information

One of the main reason that enterprises switch to cloud-based services is for enhanced security. That’s a word that Microsoft knows all too well, and as reported by many security firms lately, enterprise owners and IT admins have been gravitating towards Microsoft Azure for their infrastructure.
Even the SADA Systems Public Cloud survey revealed a strong and growing support for Azure Cloud. As the struggle between the three top cloud providers runs neck-to-neck, IT admins agree that their number one concern is keeping their data private and impenetrable. In fact, news of data breaches or downtime is one of the leading reasons that customers would leave one cloud provider for another.
Perhaps that’s what prompted the blog post released by Microsoft Azure just yesterday. Chief Strategist James Staten for Cloud + Enterprise took the time to express gratitude towards those that already support the product. But he also made a point to advertise exactly why Azure was so popular: it’s all about security!
“Of the nearly $12 billion Microsoft spent on research and development last year, $1 billion was focused on our cybersecurity efforts,” Staten explained. Microsoft makes significant efforts to responsibly handle private information through the use of new technologies such as the homomorphic encryption. This is how Microsoft is able to perform operations without decrypting the data.
Microsoft also puts a global effort towards maintaining productive cybersecurity:
- The Secure Development Lifecycle makes it possible for developers to work together creating safer software.
- Digital Crimes Unit work closely with law enforcement and officials to monitor and stop cyber attacks and digital criminals.
- Microsoft holds more certifications globally than any other cloud service provider.
James followed up the post with the mention that Microsoft Azure will be sharing more about their thoughts on security at Ignite 2016 next month.
