Donald Trump bragged about the time he lied to Justin Trudeau about the trade deficit

Justin Trudeau is doing the best he can. I actually think that Trudeau set some sort of example for other world leaders, showing them how to deal with Donald Trump. Trudeau was courteous when he met Trump but he didn’t allow the orange sh-thole to play-act his stupid Alpha Man thing. Trudeau also caught the eye of Ivanka Trump, and I’m sure daddy’s most precious and complicit princess has spoken highly of Trudeau to her father. Of course, none of that stopped Donny Dentures from bragging about how he lied to Trudeau when they met.

President Trump boasted in a fundraising speech Wednesday that he made up information in a meeting with the leader of a top U.S. ally, saying he insisted to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the United States runs a trade deficit with its neighbor to the north without knowing whether that was the case.

“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy, Justin. He said, ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’ ” Trump said, mimicking Trudeau, according to audio obtained by The Washington Post. “Nice guy, good-looking guy, comes in — ‘Donald, we have no trade deficit.’ He’s very proud because everybody else, you know, we’re getting killed.

“… So, he’s proud. I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. … I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong, Justin.’ He said, ‘Nope, we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well, in that case, I feel differently,’ I said, ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said, ‘Check, because I can’t believe it.’

‘Well, sir, you’re actually right. We have no deficit, but that doesn’t include energy and timber. … And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”

The Office of the United States Trade Representative says the United States has a trade surplus with Canada.

Trump launched a blistering attack against major U.S. allies and global economies, accusing the European Union, China, Japan and South Korea of ripping off the United States for decades and pillaging the U.S. workforce. He also described the North American Free Trade Agreement as a disaster and heaped blame on the World Trade Organization for allowing other countries to box in the United States on trade.

He also seemed to threaten to pull U.S. troops stationed in South Korea if he didn’t get what he wanted on trade with Seoul, an ally. He said that the country had gotten rich but that U.S. politicians never negotiated better deals. “We have a very big trade deficit with them, and we protect them,” Trump said. “We lose money on trade, and we lose money on the military. We have right now 32,000 soldiers on the border between North and South Korea. Let’s see what happens.”

[From WaPo]

“I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart.” This is the raison d’être of the Republican party in a nutshell. This is why Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell don’t do sh-t about Trump: because Trump IS a Republican. He thinks like a Republican, he speaks like a Republican, and he spouts the essence of the Republican Party. Republicans think Americans – especially their voters – are stupid, and so they get off on lying to the “smart” people. Trump is an uninformed, ill-advised, profoundly stupid man and he is the Republican Party.

I love how the man who thinks it’s a good idea to paint his face orange every morning and believes that stock market gains reduce the national debt thinks he’s the smartest man in every room.

If you could bottle that confidence you’d be richer than Bezos…

    • Veronica says:

The confidence of mediocre white men is pretty incredible, ain’t it?

      • Rumi says:

When you’ve got white privilege and fragility to protect and boost you, plus a default system which ensures you stay at the top, not so surprising.

  2. Maya says:

Only people who knows what shame is can feel it.

Trump and Republicans are going down and Pennsylvania race is proof of that.

They can do whatever they want because come November, they are all going down.

    • Beth says:

The blue wave is coming strong! Republicans are shaking with panic

      • Maya says:

Yep and this has given me hope that Democrats can not only retake The House but also The Senate.

Look out for lots of Republicans announcing their retirements or that they are not going to seek re-election.

And the bonus will be Kock, NRA & Russia spending millions/billions on the races but will lose anyways.

    • kNY says:

You are so correct. He has no shame. None of them do. It’s astounding.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

IF PEOPLE VOTE. The voting systems are still inadequate and easily hacked, the Russians got as far as registration rolls last time in many states, and voting-rights restrictions remain in effect or are getting worse. Pennsylvania has had to redraw its districts but other states still have problems. North Carolina may never get it settled. Never think someone else is going to take care of this problem for you.

  3. C. Remm says:

I thought about this little clip here concerning Trump and stupidity.

  4. Torontoe says:

This is huge news in Canada. We are one another’s greatest allies and trade partners. Trudeau, while far from perfect, has bent over backwards to accommodate him and Princess Nagini. I always felt we were lucky to have one another as neighbours, but since this presidency not so much. 🙁 However I love how his biggest pitch to donors is “we’re so stupid”.

    • Tina says:

Can I just say, thank you to Canada and PM Trudeau for supporting the UK in this whole Russian poisoning business. We are finding out very rapidly who our real friends are (not to suggest that Americans generally don’t support the UK, but it’s pretty clear that this US administration doesn’t).

      • Who ARE These People? says:

This US administration will only support Russia and its allies. It’s nothing personal, UK.

        SIGH.

    • HK9 says:

Fellow Canadian here. Trudeau is in the awkward position of dealing with a US administration that’s crumbling. He has to respond to them since the US is trying to make changes, but as we can see, half the people our government is dealing with may not even be there by year end which makes Trudeau’s job difficult. However, his father Pierre did tell the US to go to hell more than once and the world didn’t fall apart. Furthermore, the business community in the US has gone to the press saying they’re aware Canada is their major trading partner and they are not eager to alienate us so I think he’s got to play the long game here to make sure the relationship remains profitable for everyone.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

I’m in Canada too. Trudeau is, of course, under attack from the left and the right but I am keeping a laser focus on how he manages this potentially explosive relationship with the Trump administration. So far, I’m impressed and I don’t care about anything else, because the consequences of mishandling are so potentially disastrous for Canada.

In my view, Canada can’t do Canada if the USA relationship is bad.

      • Alarmjaguar says:

I’m so sorry Canadians. We are really mucking it up down here 🙁

    • Clare says:

I hope this an impetus for Canada to rethink it’s trade dependency in the US and move forward more quickly on deals with the EU and the UK. Selfishly (living in Britain), we need Canada on side, but I also think Canada needs to mitigate this dependancy on the US. How humiliating for Trudeu that trumpkins is bragging about lying to him!

      • OriginalLala says:

We (Canada) have been working on strengthening trade with other markets (EU, Asia markets, South America). Also I’m pretty sure Trudeau knew Trump was lying as every other word Trump spews is a lie.

      • Swack says:

My first thought was that Trudeau knows what is going on in his economy and while not know the exact figures of the trade with the US, he knew there was no deficit.

      • Anners says:

Absolutely. I used to feel very comfortable being such close neighbours with the US, but in recent years (2016 to be exact), I’ve had a lot of illusions shattered and would much prefer stronger ties with other countries that are not at war with themselves.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

        What Original LaLa said.

Anners: Wasn’t Confederation in large part attainable because the US had been at war with itself? I wonder how this current undeclared war will change Canada. Further separation would probably be healthy but is harder now.

      • still_sarah says:

I worked at a university in China and in 2015 I developed and taught a course on the history of the Canadian economy. Sadly I don’t think there is really any way for Canada to really remove itself from a dependent economic relationship with the US. For better or worse, we live next door to a giant whose economy and population is 10X larger than ours.

      • Esmom says:

“How humiliating for Trudeu that trumpkins is bragging about lying to him!”

I’m not sure this is humiliating for Trudeau as much as it for Trump, once again admitting what a mendacious buffoon he is.

      • Claire says:

Trudeau humiliates himself all on his own.

      • Kloops says:

I don’t think this is humiliating for Trudeau at all. I’m neutral-slightly critical of Trudeau at the best of times, but I’m pretty confident he was well aware of the trade status between CAN – US not remotely fooled or intimidated. Our countries are so intertwined a trade war is devastating for both. Even Trump knows that. He’s just gleefully advertising to the world what a terrible negotiator he is. The hubris is galling.

      • Megan says:

The majority of America’s oil comes from Canada. If Trudeau was a vindictive b*tch like Trump, he would cut the flow of oil and force Trump to come groveling to get it turned back on.

      • magnoliarose says:

Governors have been quietly making their own trade agreements and diplomatic relationships out of necessity. The truth is 45 blabbers and then someone distracts him and he loses interest.
It doesn’t make Trudeau look bad. It makes 45 look like the inept lunatic he is.

I am ready for the US to become a true Republic. I used to believe in the Federal government, but the country is too large and too different regionally to sustain a one size fits all anymore.

I will say the business owners in my family told me that whenever 45 talks no one in the larger business communities listen to him anymore. I was told they just pick up the phone call their insiders and tell them how they feel, the politicians make assurances and then 45 shifts to please them. He only cares about the business community and will make sure there are loopholes and avenues for them. I saw it with the tax plan. Right now business rules everything.

Whatever Trudeau’s problems are in Canada he isn’t seen in an unfavorable light in the US. He is smart enough to put on a show and let 45’s ego blow up, and he knows he can deal anyway.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I can’t believe Trump is using this story as an event to brag about. What a fool!!!

He told a lie, and was CAUGHT in that lie. How does he see this as a win for himself? Freaking idiot.

  5. minx says:

    I hate him.

    • Iknowwhatboyslike says:

Such a succinct comment that describes how I how I feel about him.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

      Me too. He sucks.

    • Esmom says:

I do, too, minx, but I think I despise Don Jr and many of the deplorables — including those mocking high school students for standing up against the gun violence epidemic — even more.

    • Megan says:

I hate shrimp. The look, texture, and smell just put me off. When I compare how I feel about shrimp to how I feel about Trump, I need a new word, because hate doesn’t begin to convey the depth and complexity of my feelings about Trump.

      • Rachel says:

Loathe. I loathe him. Hate is tossed around so often, it’s lost its punch. Pure, unadulterated loathing, however… that more readily describes the depth of my disgust for him.

      • Juls says:

Good word Rachel. It makes me picture Newman on Seinfeld: “I Looaaathe you!”

  6. grabbyhands says:

And THIS is what he’s lauded for. Yeah, I said I’m stupid, but I pulled one over on YOU so that makes me better!!! Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk! Jeebus! Murrica! Guns!!!!

And worse, he really believes that. That Trudeau was sitting there thinking that “Well, this anus just told me what I know is a foolish, bald faced lie….but MAYBE he really does know something I don’t know”.

    • Bellagio DuPont says:

      😂

    • jwoolman says:

It’s pretty obvious that Trudeau knew Trump was lying. No shame for him. He has remarkable patience dealing with our toddler President.

I’m amazed that anybody thought it made sense to give money to a guy who just admitted he lied like that, that as POTUS he hadn’t bothered to prepare for a meeting with an important trading partner, and who thought it was a splendid story to tell. Wouldn’t it start them wondering what else he’s lying about and whether they can trust anything he tells them?

  7. kellybean says:

Am I the only one that couldn’t make sense of what he was saying? I guess you might want to call it a quote…I am so confused.

    • Mia4s says:

I’d say I am worried he has dementia but I think he’s just an idiot.

I’m still stuck on the”Mexicans are amazing climbers. Amazing!” quote. I mean…WTF???! That makes zero sense. I have visions of some “advisor” having to agree about the time Salma Hayek free climbed the Sears Tower and Diego Luna summited Everest with his hands tied behind his back. It’s like..it’s not even racist per say, just moronic.

    • Juls says:

No I couldn’t makes heads or tails of it either, but I don’t speak moron so…..?????
It’s like Charlie Brown trying to decipher the teacher’s “wah wah wah”

      • nicole says:

I just watched him with my prime minister Leo Varadkar in the Whitehouse for St Patricks weekend, and he just mumled something about his golf course and them something about the border we have, but he really hasnt a clue about anything, he just is so out of his league sitting in that chair trying to play president.

    • boredblond says:

      Oh good..it’s not just me…

      • AnnaKist says:

I also breathed a sigh of relief. But, “Donny Dentures”… 🤪🤩😂😂😂

    • Fisher7777 says:

Nope. Right there with you. It sort of reads like, “I lied! I’m so badass… But, also, Trudeau knew I was lying and politely told me so.”

      • Who ARE These People? says:

It’s a mess, but as far as I can tell, it’s sort of, “Hey, I tried to put one over on this guy because why the hell not? MAGA! But this guy, look, he’s a good dude, he had to stick up for his people, right? His people gave him numbers. But I almost had him going there. I can say whatever I want, and when you’re president, they let you. MAGA!”

    • magnoliarose says:

When he talks all I hear is the Charlie Brown teacher and nonsense. I don’t even try. I just let someone else translate it into English.

    • km says:

kellybean: I’m right there with you. I read that quote over and over and I couldn’t quite get what he was trying to say. I kept asking myself “who is he calling stupid?” Then I thought, maybe I’m stupid for even trying to make sense of that nonsense.

  8. Krill says:

Trump is deeply unpopular in virtually every corner of the planet. I dont understand why these world leaders dont do the thing politicians do i.e. humiliate him for points in domestic and regional politics, and in the process force some respect out of him. I suppose Teresa May is in a hard spot because of Brexit and hoping to secure good bilateral trade deals. But the rest of these folks, from Angela Merkle to Trudeu? And the Chinese premier?? Why is a man who just essentially got declared ruler for life not running an intense global campaign against this douche?

    • kNY says:

He’s so easily flattered. If you pretend to be nice, you can get ANYTHING from him. That’s why people from other countries stay at his hotel or pay attention to Ivanka like she matters. He’s a fool and they know it.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Exactly. He’s a cheap commodity and easily manipulated with insincere flattery.

    • Chrissy says:

I think it’s because the rest of the world still hold the title “President of the United States” in esteem and, even though the current POTUS is unworthy of the title and a disaster as a person, they know he won’t be POTUS forever and alienating an entire nation is bad policy for geopolitical and economic reasons in the long term. Also, he has nukes at his disposal.

      • Esmom says:

Agreed. I’m sure it must be tempting af for people to put him in his place with just a few well-chosen, intelligent words but I can see why they hold back. They’re looking at the big picture, unlike Bigly.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Canada and the US share the world’s longest peaceful border, right? The US is Canada’s biggest trading partner, right? There’s your answer.

As for China, I wouldn’t worry about president-for-life Xi Jinping. Of all the countries in the world, they would know best how to play a man like Trump. When it comes to dealing with crass outsiders, this is not China’s first rodeo.

Angela Merkel was just sworn in to her 4th term as German Chancellor after a bruising election and lengthy coalition wrangling. She doesn’t need to overtly bash Trump. An eye roll here, a counterintelligence initiative there … she knows how to take care of herself.

Trump is a small and petty man unopposed by the legislature. They’re all doing their best with what they got and I can assure you they know, as we should, that all tyrants fall.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

Because they’re career politicians. Merkel has been in the game for what, 30 years? She just doesn’t DO this. It’s not her nature and it’s not her style as a politician. Also, they all know that while Trump the man is vile and a moron, he represents the government and the country. And those you do not want to slap in the face because most of these people (including, I think, Merkel) will still be there when he is gone (make it happen, Mueller). And it’s a bit like insulting your sibling. You can trash your sibling (US citizens can trash 45) but others can’t. It’s also, frankly, beneath them. They’re sitting this out as much as they can, hoping that it’ll be over soon.

    • Veronica says:

Because the United States has enormous amounts of political, economic, and military power. That’s the problem when a large swath of the country is trained to think of the US as an isolated, “America-first” vacuum. They have no concept of the detriment a poor leader can make for the world at large nor do they care.

    • Claire says:

I know lots of people in Western Canada that like him. More from the business sector. I think there are a lot of others as well but don’t want to admit it. People in Canada don’t want all the refugees Trudeau has invited into Canada. He seems to cater to them and other minorities more so than the middle class. Immigration is good but taking in a vast amount of those who are unable to contribute and are only here because they have to be, not because they came of their own desire. That’s where Trump, at least in Canada, is more appreciated for lack of a better word. This is not my personal opinion. I think Trump is outrageous. I run my own business and am exposed to a number of people from different walks of life and this is what I hear. I think Trump likes to manipulate right up to the line before he becomes somewhat more flexible. We shall see!

      • Nicole (the Cdn One) says:

Agreed Claire. There are a lot of people in Canada who hold personal views that are anti-immigration, anti-minority and anti-social programming. They look to see what the government is doing for them personally rather than how initiatives will benefit the community as a whole and therefore them as a consequence of that. Trudeau is also taking criticism from the high-income bracket for the increases in tax rates and the loss of income splitting. He is, as mentioned, a target of the left and the right. I don’t think we have a less prejudiced population, but we are fortunate enough to have a Charter that insulates us from institutional discrimination. That won’t help us in terms of immigration or trade policies if the Government changes though. The only silver lining for the left in Canada is that if Trump’s policies do backfire, it might be the wake up call for enough voters to understand before our next election that isolationism in the form of nationalism isn’t a good thing.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

Um, a lot of minorities are IN the middle class. Please let’s not make the same mistake as was made in the US as assuming all working- and middle-class people are white.

Immigrants stimulate the economy and ARE the working and middle classes, often upper too given their high levels of
        education.

        All for it!

      • Nicole (the Cdn One) says:

That’s what our point was (or at least mine) Who ARE These People? – there are a lot of individuals who buy into the rhetoric without appreciating the reality. We have a Government that enacts policies aimed at bettering the lives of the middle class, which includes comprehensive immigration and social policies, but we also have a lot of individuals who don’t see themselves being directly benefited by those policies, and instead chose to see their situation as being adversely affected by them. These individuals are a lot like the Trump supporters and espouse an anti-immigration viewpoint. And they feel empowered to promote these views and with the Government experiencing criticism from both the left and the right, this makes them vulnerable in the next election. I don’t share those views, but I recognize they exist and the only thing that might save us from them in the next election is if the Canadians who hold those views see what happens when a government – the US – tanks its economy by enacting anti-immigrant and nationalistic policies.

      • Peeking in says:

Claire, you’re speaking only for western Canada. You hate Trudeau and loved the vile toupee wearing Stephen Harper, we know that. But I go out west on business often, and I don’t hear a lot of love for trump, except from racially bias people.

      • Lady D says:

She’s not speaking for all western Canadians, either.

      • magnoliarose says:

Surely not Vancouver and BC right? I know Alberta is rather conservative, but BC doesn’t strike me that way.

      • Nicole (the Cdn One) says:

Of course she’s not speaking for everyone in the West, but we don’t do ourselves any favours by not acknowledging that there are a not insignificant number of people who hold those views. I’m in the Prairies and as left as it gets (Green Party) and am exposed regularly to people who hold these views. My family is from the Maritimes and those sentiments are expressed there as well. I’d like to think there are a lot more people who think the exact opposite, but there is no doubt that the rise of Trump has emboldened people with those views and created safer spaces for their dissemination and their growth. To shut that down, we can’t ignore that they exist or think we are above that.

  9. RBC says:

So is 45 really trying to isolate the US from the rest of the world? Trashing allies and friends is really a bad policy

    • Nicole says:

Yea he is because white supremicists believe in “America first” and think that we can exist without any help. It’s one of the many reasons we will (and are) crumbling

    • Bellagio DuPont says:

I think once you understand (and ACCEPT), that he is truly Putin’s bitch/wh*re in every sense of the word, everything that’s happening starts to make sense, finally.

      🙁

    • Who ARE These People? says:

Yes, he is. It all began with Putin wanting to destroy NATO. Weakening the US is part of that. Putin knew how to use Trump to play into American’s longstanding weakness: Its deep internal divisions and sense of independence, its almost primordial exceptionalism.

    • Olenna says:

It’s typical behavior for a dictator; inherently mistrustful, but arrogant with an overwhelming sense of entitlement. In his small mind, the world owes him respect, not the other way around.

  10. Mia4s says:

It’s really sad where we are at the point that Canada is dealing with the United States like it would deal with a racist, borderline-senile grandfather who you have to tolerate for family peace.

Our media likes to blow up about Trump’s threats; but the government just rolls their eyes and works behind the scenes and at the state level to get actual work done. “We are going to impose all the tariffs!!” “Sure grandpa, sure, eat your oatmeal”.

  11. Junebug says:

I’m embarrassed to be the same species as Donald Trump. That is all.

  12. Eric says:

I can’t wait until Emperor Zero states flatly “You’re Wrong!” to Mr Mueller.

Lordy, I hope there are tapes!

  13. Leo says:

Because what? Trudeau is just some random guy who has no way of finding the truth?

    • Who ARE These People? says:

To Trump, yes. Because to Trump, there is no objective “truth.” There’s only what works. If he thinks he can pull one over on ya, he will. And he has, on an entire country.

    • Prairiegirl says:

LOL! I guess? Because Canada doesn’t have well-trained economists, trade negotiators, long serving bureaucrats who the duly elected most senior politician in the country can turn to. Because Canada doesn’t have military and espionage agencies that monitor communications, including business communications, across the shared border. Trump’s a buffoon. And a menace.

  14. Belle Epoch says:

“I said, ‘Wrong, Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. … I had no idea. I just said, ‘You’re wrong.’ “

What an SOB. Of course he knows nothing. He just has to “win” every conversation. If you knew Trump in real life, you would RUN rather than have to talk to this mollusk.

    • Esmom says:

Exactly. Some of us have known for decades that Trump is a guy to be avoided at all costs. I completely understood why Comey would hide in the drapes when Trump came his way.

  15. Dissa says:

I pay more for hydro in Canada than the US who we sell a surplus to. No joke!

Livestock and crop prices are subsidized in the US but not in Canada.

Timber … I could go on. I used to love America .. but frankly wishing the UK were the neighbour south right about now!

  16. Iknowwhatboyslike says:

If this man isn’t Putin’s bitch then I don’t know what to make of him. Every single thing he has done has been with the aim of bringing America down, making us vulnerable and weak.

  17. Prairiegirl says:

Trump is a menace. The Economist magazine predicted it well before the 2016 US election.

Canada’s approach is generally speaking to treat Trump like one would treat the head of any other failed state: ignore him the best you can and work with the local warlords (in this case governors, business leaders, etc.) to get issues moved forward and things accomplished. It surprises me that other countries aren’t taking the same approach, actually.

    • HK9 says:

Bingo. Governors and business leaders in the states are well aware that Trump is a menace and are open to direct negotiation-especially since they know that administration is far from stable and can’t be trusted.

      • magnoliarose says:

Absolutely. I know personally 3 of them that do this. They sweat nothing and ignore 45. Canada will be fine, and Trudeau has been dealing directly with business people and states.
He can’t gloat about it nor can other leaders because of 45’s nasty, vindictive temperament. Smile and get the necessary things done without his interference.

    • The Original G says:

Actually, I believe they are and I believe they started after the EU meeting last year. Remember when Merkel said they couldn’t count on the US anymore? I believe they have moved on to meetings about trade, climate change, North Korea, Russia, refugees etc without US participation and are keeping it low-key.

      • nic919 says:

It has been an open secret in Canadian news that Trudeau and his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chrystia Freeland, have been meeting directly with several state governors to bypass the “very stable” orange genius. Freeland is also persona non grata in Russia because she criticized their annexation of the Crimea.

    • littlemissnaughty says:

The EU will and already has. They would maybe hesitate if Brexit wasn’t happening but since the UK, one of the US’ strongest allies, is leaving, we’re basically over it.

    • Lady D says:

Mexico has spent the last 16 months negotiating deals with Brazil and Chile for corn and wheat. They are moving away from dependence on the States for food. It will be at least another decade before Mexico has any form of self-sufficiency from the States, but they are reading the writing on the wall.

  18. Lara says:

Maybe my english is lacking but I don´t understand how he can brag about this conversation.
He is basically caught in a lie and after trying to defend his lie is called out politely.

I could understand If he would boast about not being caught, it would fit with his idea of “winning” no matter how, but boasting that he has been caught lying?

  19. Citresse says:

They’re both bad. Trudeau tells vets in wheelchairs he doesn’t have enough money for their pensions yet Trudeau has no problem stealing 250k taxpayer $ for a trip to Bahamas.

  20. The Original G says:

Canada here. Pretty sure we know exactly what our trade situation is. It seem to me Trudeau and Chrystia Freeland have been playing a low key game publicly and managed to escape a pointless public confrontation with Trump. Freeland is cracker-jack smart. How long can this presidency last, really?

I can’t believe that anyone can be proud of being an uninformed liar at this level of Government. So sad how Trump characterises the US’s own best people. I feel you guys.

    • kNY says:

There’s a certain part of the American public (I say this as an American) that is uniformly proud of being uninformed.

      • The Original G says:

Trust me. We have those types in Canada as well. We actually have Trump admirers. The pendulum just happened to swing to Trudeau here last election. We all have to be on guard for this stuff.

  21. Play it Again says:

Trump is a national embarrassment. I pray everyday that we won’t be stuck with him for his entire term, although Pence would bring other problems. God, I miss Obama.

    • virginfangirl says:

So humiliating to us in the U.S. Our president came to a meeting not bothering to know even the basic facts, lied, bragged about lying, as if Trudeau didn’t know Trump was full of crap. But Trudeau acted like a responsible adult, but all the while he must have been thinking how the hell the people of America voted for this buffoon.

  22. Rapunzel says:

Trump’s response on Twitter: “We do have a Trade Deficit with Canada, as we do with almost all countries (some of them massive). P.M. Justin Trudeau of Canada, a very good guy, doesn’t like saying that Canada has a Surplus vs. the U.S.(negotiating), but they do…they almost all do…and that’s how I know!”

    JFC he’s stupid.

    • jwoolman says:

I don’t think Trump understands the concept of trade surplus and deficit.

One of his economics professors in college (author of an important textbook, on the Wharton faculty which was shared with the UPenn undergrad courses Trump took) said repeatedly that Trump was the dumbest student he ever had and that Trump transferred into UPenn acting like he already knew everything. Classmates said Trump was never prepared. No evidence that he read the books…. My bet is that he just paid people to do enough work to get him through to the garden variety economics bachelor’s degree he received. I also suspect he did something to get kicked out by Fordham, since he certainly didn’t transfer to benefit from the Wharton program at UPenn. He could have received the same degree from Fordham.

  23. Christin says:

He just wants different headlines. There may be Stormy days ahead, and we shouldn’t talk about that.

Talk about walls, trade, whatever, but Stormy is not going to be ignored.

    • magnoliarose says:

Nope. No one is going to let it go. He can deflect but like Stephanie Ruhle said, “We are still going to talk about it.”

      • Christin says:

Stormy seems to be one of the few (maybe only) subject he won’t touch these days. I hope her interview airs ASAP.

      • magnoliarose says:

I think he met his match with her. Her lawyer said that other women are coming forward like her. This is pandora’s box, and he can’t blame it on the left or the media. There are court documents and a clear pattern of behavior that can’t be ignored.
This story I believe is a pandora’s box.
The paternity disclosure clause is the mystery, and I don’t think he wants it out. As in a termination or miscarriage. Why would that be there?
It also makes me wonder if there are other children out there somewhere.

  24. Triplecardinal says:

Something to think about: we know about this audio recording because someone—specifically a Republican governor—smuggled it out.

  25. stelly says:

Sigh…he is such a profound embarrassment to the country. As is the entire Republican party and all their deplorable supporters.

    • jj says:

I am embarrassed when I travel abroad, almost to the point where I start babbling about how I didn’t vote for him, so they don’t blame me. Stupid, but I feel like we let the world down with this idiot. SAD

  26. jferber says:

Like Trudeau didn’t know Donald was a lying liar and diplomatically said nothing. Trump’s such an a-hole. It reminds me of my high school students who write essays in which Kurt Cobain is the author of Great Expectations, certain that I won’t know better. You didn’t fool him, Trump!

  27. Shappalled says:

This might all be for the best in the long run. Hopefully the Republican Party gets Wipedout in the midterms and then again in 2020. And then for years to come every Republican who didn’t speak out against President Trump when he was in office can be demonized for it

    • magnoliarose says:

Oh yes. This erased all of their moral posturing and values nonsense. No more evangelical groups pushing their agendas anymore. Throw 45 right back at them and their hypocrisy. They are saddled with him for life, and as he is exposed more and more, they will have to own that too.
I believe in the long run it will be for the best.
They dragged the Clintons out to make a point for nearly 30 years; now they can’t because 45 is the worst ever and no one will top him. He will be theirs for all of history.

  28. NeoCleo says:

The problem is, DUMP, no one can verify the story. So surprise! TRUMP MADE THE STORY UP–IT NEVER HAPPENED.

  29. Jess says:

I am Canadian and I think Trudeau is a complete idiot. So is Trump. They both have to be some of the dumbest men ever to run countries ! Honestly I believe Trudeau is way worse than trump. He is dumber than a bag of sand. It’s super hard to watch him f$&& our country up and into insane debt just to play to his narcissism. I don’t need a budget that plays to gender. I need a budget where I pay less tax and my family can afford to live. 52% tax. Seriously ! That’s what I pay in tax. For that amount I expect my PM to act like an adult and not a child. He is an embarrassment to Canada and the people who live here.
