Just before the end of 2020, we allocated the remaining grants from the Cumbria COVID-19 Response Fund. Alongside other funding, we have awarded £2.36 million to almost 200 organisations and community groups responding to the COVID-19 pandemic across the county. It’s times like these that we really learn of the value of philanthropy, of being a good neighbour and just how caring and pro-active the people of Cumbria are. We are delighted that some of our funded groups are supporting the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Cumbria. Volunteers have been absolutely vital to managing the safe delivery of the vaccine. |

Many of our older residents struggle to survive winter. Unfortunately, the need hasn’t gone away and this year, with match funding, your generosity has helped raise almost £170,000. Jenny Benson, Director of Programmes and Partnerships, said: “We know from our partners that people are finding it harder than ever to heat their homes because of the economic fallout from COVID-19 and the fact they have to stay at home more. I’d like to thank everyone who has donated to the Winter Warmth Fund, as well as the trusts, companies and long-standing supporters who have shown such compassion. We have awarded more than £200,000 to support hundreds of older people this winter and while this is an amazing achievement, there are still many more in Cumbria who desperately need your support.” |

Membership is a great way to regularly support our work. Kerry Doig, Director of Solomons Europe tells us why the Chartered Quantity Surveying Practice wanted to support the Foundation: “We have heard more and more about the important work the Foundation does, and how much their support means to both local communities and individuals. They know where the needs are and get support there quickly – as evidenced through their swift action to tackle the local impacts of the recent pandemic. They are a real backbone for Cumbria’s communities, and we are proud and delighted to join them as corporate members.” |

The Lighthouse
Community Mental Health Hub was set up following the closure of South Lakeland
Mind. Without a £6,000 grant from Brian and Ann Clark Fund, Holehird Trust
and the Johnson Fund, it wouldn't have been able to afford to create a safe, home from home environment for its users. |
