MOORHEAD, Minn. -- The 2012-13 Go Pink with the Dragons is set for Friday, Feb. 8 as part of the Minnesota State University Moorhead basketball teams' home doubleheader with Augustana. It's part of a busy week of activities to raise breast cancer awareness on the MSUM campus.
In addition, the first two Go Pink Scholarship Recipients have been announced. Alexandra Gebeke and Lacey Guck both received a $250 scholarship for the spring semester at MSUM. They are the first two students to receive scholarship awards.
The Go Pink events begin on Feb. 6 with Sanford Health hosting a Breast Cancer Survivorship Team Panel at the Comstock Memorial Ballroom (6:30 p.m.). The panel will include professionals who are working to make a difference in the lives of breast-cancer survivors. The event is free and open to the public.
On Friday, Feb. 8, the Dragon basketball teams will host Augustana at Alex Nemzek Hal. As part of the night's activities, Acro Lites and Acro II teams will perform at halftimes of the games. The Dragon Frost Royalty Coronation will be held, along with the Go Pink Silent Auction. Games Galore Inflatables will be available all night.
On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Dragon Frost Freeze Your Fanny Fun Run will be held at 11 a.m. at Alex Nemzek Hall. The MSUM basketball teams will host Wayne State later in the day (women's game at 4 p.m. and men's game at 6 p.m.). At 7 p.m. that night, at the Fargo Civic Center, the Fargo-Moorhead Derby Girls will hold a doubleheader bout as part of the Go Pink Fundraiser.
Go Pink T-shirts will be sold at the MSUM bookstore and athletic department throughout the week. Proceeds from the T-shirt sales and Go Pink Silent Auction will be evenly dispersed between the MSUM Go Pink Scholarship Fun and the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, N.D., with the exception of FM Derby Girls, whose proceeds will go to the RMCC.
