Firstly, on the 3rd March Capital Document Solutions are proud to be sponsoring the Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO). They will perform the Beethoven Symphony No 2 and the concert will be at the City Halls in Glasgow.
Furthermore, Capital is passionate about promoting and contributing to society and the development of culture throughout Scotland. Capital have now been sponsors of the SCO for more than 15 years.
The concert also features Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge and a Concertino for Horn and Strings. This is an SCO Commission and a world premiere.
The concert forms part of a month-long celebration of recent works by Sir James MacMillan. It sees Alec Frank-Gemmill take the spotlight in James MacMillan’s new arrangement of his thrillingly theatrical horn quintet.
Sir James Loy Macmillan is a Scottish born composer. He was awarded a Knighthood in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday honours. Sir James is also a conductor and founder of the Cumnock Tryst.
Andrew Manze became the Principal Conductor of the NDR Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hanover in September 2014. As a guest conductor Manze has regular relationships with several leading international orchestras. These include the Munich Philharmonic, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and the Scottish and Swedish Chamber Orchestras. First and foremost, he is rightly acclaimed as an outstanding interpreter of both Britten and Beethoven.
The Scottish Chamber Orchestra is Scotland’s national chamber orchestra, based in Edinburgh. The orchestra was formed in 1974, with Roderick Brydon as its first Principal Conductor, from 1974 to 1983. The orchestra is made up of a unique collection of talented musicians. They tour the length and breadth of Scotland and around the world as proud ambassadors for Scotland.
The charitable trust IMPACT Scotland and the SCO have developed a proposal to create a new world-class arts centre in St Andrews Square, Edinburgh. Ultimately, the facility would be the new home of the SCO, as well as a venue for education, conferences and public engagement.
