Stewart Richey Construction is training their employees consistently to become better leaders and efficient workers in hopes that the investment will lead to more employees and a positive environment.

The company is training employees several times throughout the year during each quarter by using exercises that help them grow individually and as workers.

They say in turn, it sets their company apart to attract new employees to fill the many jobs that are currently vacant in the workforce.

"When people see what we're doing and the investment that we're making, in workforce development, it's more than just workforce development, it's personal development too," says Rodney Rogers, the company's president.

An interesting statistic is that there are nearly 7,000 jobs in the workforce that aren't filled because the lack of employees. A need for young people to fill construction jobs and other positions out in the field is at an all time high because of the rapid growth of South Central Kentucky.

By training their leaders to carry skills into the workplace, current Stewart Richey employees feel it attracts people to the jobs.

"For a company to take the time and spend the money to invest in us in the workforce says a lot about that company, and it says that they're wanting to develop people within the workforce instead of looking outside," says Michael Eubanks, an employee who has done the training exercises.

Other employees of the company tell us the training and investment has helped them grow not only in the workplace, but personally as well.
