A major warmup is on the way; are you ready for it?

High temperatures by next Tuesday could climb into the 40s in much of our area. Look at Indiana. Temperatures there will climb into the 60s.

It's been nice for winter lovers to have some cold air finally. Are you getting used to it, or are you ready for a change? Well, Mother Nature has a big change lined up for us.

We will remain cold today and Friday. Friday will also see another widespread two to four inch snow move across most of Michigan.

Saturday and Sunday will be the perfect blend of winter temperatures, some sunshine, and lighter winds. So if you want to have winter sports fun, this weekend is for you.

At the risk of sounding like I work for the chamber in Frankenmuth, it will be a great weekend for Snowfest. I don't work for the chamber!

But are you sick of the cold already? Then you will be much happier from Monday through Wednesday of next week!

Monday south winds will develop, and a weak but messy weather system will move across the Lower Peninsula. Usually the transition from extreme cold to much warmer temperatures brings a batch of slop.

For travelers, the good news when warm air is coming, is the slop melts rather quickly. This should be the case by Tuesday.

Tuesday we should feel our temperatures soar into the 40s! I'm still using the word "should" because that's still six days away. I've seen the trend for about three days now, but didn't want to say anything yet. Forecasting warmer winter weather that doesn't eventually happen could send me into the "meteorologist protection program."

It won't last long, but rather just be a nice two day break in the cold. Tuesday and Wednesday should be in the 40s, and Thursday back down in the 20s. So it probably won't take away all of the winter fun up north. It should leave the ice in place for us ice fishermen and fisherwomen.

So let's settle once and for all if more of us like winter or hate winter here in Michigan. Take the poll.
