Michigan school closings: Are schools closed in your area? Are they justified?

The bitter cold has caused school closings throughout Michigan. Here is a list of MLive stories about closures; let us know if school is closed in your area.

User djfx disagreed with the closings in Flint, saying: "Folks in North Dakota would laugh at this excuse to not attend school...1 below temps are nothing to them...I remember when I was a kid, schools rarely closed right here in Flint area. And if you lived within 1 mile of the school, you didn't get bus service anyway, you walked. Kids have it too easy nowadays."

But user Holland Sparty was OK with it, saying: "West Ottawa High School had a 1/2 day of school yesterday because of exams. Closed today and justifiably so. Not so much because of the effect of the cold on kids standing at the bus stops but that it's too cold for salt to melt anything and the roads here in Ottawa county are very slippery."

Should schools be closed to protect kids who have to wait at a bus stop? Or is this an overreaction?
