The European Data Protection Board sent a letter to EU institutions on proposed regulations regarding data sharing for purposes of anti-money laundering and countering the finance of terrorism. The EDPB said the letter highlights "significant risks to privacy and data protection posed by" amendments introduced by the European Council that would allow data sharing between private entities concerning "suspicious transactions," adding the changes "could result in very large-scale processing by private entities."
