International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. International Holocaust Remembrance Day was created through Resolution 60/7 adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2005 through the efforts of the Israeli Government and its Permanent Mission to the UN.

The Israeli Consulate to the Pacific Northwest invites you to take part in this day of remembrance through a score of events it is sponsoring along with its partners.

May their memory be a blessing.
Consul General Shlomi Kofman pays his respects to the 6 million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust on this International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.
The Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest in partnership with the ICC, Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Israel, Shem Ve Ner, and JFCS invite you to join them for a virtual tour of an exhibition that pays tribute to the female victims of the Shoah. In this presentation, led by Yad Vashem lecturer Dr. Naama Shik, the museum attempts to reveal the human story that lurks behind the historical account of what happened. Within this story, we chose to tell about the Jewish victims and create space for the unique voice of the women among them.

Join us on our Facebook page on Sunday, January 31st at 10:30am PT for this special event.

Consul General of Israel, Shlomi Kofman, and Deputy Consul General Matan Zamir participate in the 'Shem Ve Ner' (Name and Candle) campaign. We invite you to join us in the tradition of lighting a personal candle in memory of one of the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. You yourself can choose who to remember – a relative, a hero, or a victim from the Shem Ve Ner database. You're invited to take a glimpse into the life of the person whose candle you're lighting by scanning the QR code on the label, allowing you to access more information about their life story.

The campaign was created by the "Our Six Million" organization in 2013. Since then, millions of personal memorial candles have been lit - in homes, schools, public authorities, in IDF units, in the Knesset, in the President of Israel's House, and in a variety of organizations, companies and public institutions. The tradition is widespread in Israel and has become more popular over the years in communities around the world, especially in the United States.

The Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest is honored to sponsor the Music of Remembrance International Holocaust Remembrance Day concert: "Composers Whose Music Endured--Art from the Ashes 2021." The online concert will showcase stunning musical compositions crafted by composers murdered in the Shoah. The concert serves as a reminder of all of the potential that was lost in these horrific times. The musical treasures performed remain as a testament to inspiring courage and resilience during a period of unfathomable horror. They tell stories that resonate today as strongly as ever. The program will also introduce the gifted young flautist Julin Cheung, MOR’s 2020 recipient of the David Tonkonogui Memorial Award for Young Artists.

The concert is available for viewing at your leisure.
