“We have decided to hire retired fire officials. Their pay scale will depend on the type of work they will be given,” says Dr G C Misra, Director, Delhi Fire Services. “Our department made a request for inducting staff, and we are expecting new employees in the next few months. The process for induction of fire department staff is very long. Each candidate, when selected, has to undergo a pre-service training which lasts between six and 10 months. This increases the time taken for selection and induction, but now we are planning to give some relaxation,” he adds.
