Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb visits ABCA to announce Career Focus funding
Government of Canada invests to help recent graduates get jobs and job skills
An employee of Ausable Bayfield Conservation underlined the positive impact of Service Canada's Career Focus program on youth when he described how the program helped him enter the workforce. Rob Carnegie has now been working for Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) for almost two years as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Assistant. He learned the skills needed for his job thanks to the Career Focus program.

Call for nominations for Conservationist of the Year Award
Nominate a neighbour or community group today: It may be your neighbour. It may be a group or company in your community. Someone may be helping to protect the quality or quantity of your local water, or planting trees, or doing a runoff and erosion control project, or finding other ways to keep your lake, rivers, streams, soil, and living things healthy. You can say thank you by filling out a nomination form for an annual conservation award. Nominations are accepted until January 31, 2013.

Rural Stormwater Management Model project installs new water monitoring stations
New stations, selection of project team part of work in year one
Five new water monitoring stations are now in place in rural Lake Huron communities as part of a project to limit stormwater impact from heavy rainfall.

WinterFest back for Family Day on February 18
Family Day WinterFest returns for Year Three: Winter doesn’t officially arrive until December each year but volunteers have already been at work for weeks preparing for Family Day WinterFest South Huron to be held on the Family Day Holiday Monday on February 18, 2013.

Trees Ontario tour comes to Ausable Bayfield watersheds for first time
Tree planters share strategies: Thirty-five tree-planting practitioners from across southwestern Ontario visited the Ausable Bayfield watershed on Tuesday, November 20 for a tour of tree-planting projects and to look at past and present tree-planting strategies.

Conservation Dinner ticket voucher great gift idea
Exeter Lions Club, Ausable Bayfield Conservation Foundation, Conservation Dinner Committee hard at work to try and match last year's record-breaking success in support of accessible trails, recreation and education for children, commemorative woods and more
The committee behind the charitable Conservation Dinner and auction is offering people a chance to give a special Christmas-season gift that benefits children and local communities. Exeter Lions Club President Bruce Hodge said buying a gift certificate voucher for a Conservation Dinner ticket would be a great gift for anyone. He said buying a ticket voucher as a present also supports accessible trails for environmental health and human health, conservation education and recreation opportunities for young people and the young-at-heart, and commemorative woods that improve forest conditions and remember loved ones, among other important local conservation work that could not happen without the kind of public generosity that has helped the Conservation Dinner become a community success story.
