Trico Centre for Family Wellness


Trico Centre for Family Wellness was established in 1983, and is going strong 35 years later! We are the only Trico Centre for Family Wellness, located in Calgary, AB, at 11150 Bonaventure Dr SE (across the street from Southcentre Mall).

All hiring for Trico Centre for Family Wellness is local, depending on the season, we hire between 240-270 people, in a variety of departments and positions, ranging from full-time to part-time, seasonal to contract, and temporary to volunteer. Full-time employees are offered a competitive benefits package, which includes health, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage. Following the first year of full-time employment with Trico Centre, our full-time staff have access to our RRSP matching program. All employees of Trico Centre are offered a free Family Membership for themselves and family members in the same household. Volunteers are offered free access to the facility for themselves for the duration of their volunteering with us. Opportunities for advancement within Trico Centre vary from position to position, and department to department.


Trico Centre is a community owned, non-profit organization. We are dedicated to helping other non-profit organizations where we can, and have several ongoing partnerships with organizations such as KidzSport, Jumpstart, Jacket Racket, and Run for the Cure. A portion of every monthly membership fee is returned to the community in which the member resides, and we offer our own fee assistance program, Trico Cares, for those who struggle financially, to assist in their facility fee payments.

a. How long have you been in business?
Trico Centre was established in 1983, as the Family Leisure Centre. In 2008, we rebranded as Trico Centre for Family Wellness.  We have been in business for 35 years, and are still going strong!



b. How many locations do you have in Calgary, and nationally/internationally? What locations are hiring in Calgary and area?
Trico Centre for Family Wellness has one location, as we are a local community owned not-for-profit facility. We are hiring for a variety of positions in our facility, located at 11150 Bonaventure Dr SE.



c. How many people does your organization employ?
At Trico Centre, our hiring numbers vary by season, usually ranging between 240-270 people. All of our hires are local to the Calgary area and are employed in our location at 11150 Bonaventure Dr SE.



d. What type of positions do you offer?
We offer a variety of positions in a wide range of departments, including full-time, part-time, seasonal, temporary, and contract employees.  Needs vary based on department.



e. What are the benefits of working for your company?
Every employee has free access to the facility for themselves, and their family, immediately upon commencement of their employment. Volunteers are given free access to the facility for their personal use.  We offer a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, and there are opportunities for scholarships while employed with us.

The opportunities for advancement at Trico Centre vary from department to department, and position to position.

Trico Centre is a community owned, non-profit organization. • Hourly Roles: Lifeguard/swim instructor, recreation instructor (preschool arts/crafts, gym, dance, gymnastics), fitness instructor, fitness monitor, child care attendants, guest services attendants, skating instructors and huge opportunities for summer and holiday day camp leaders.
• We have a great contingent of full-time staff who been with us for an extended period of time – do not have a lot of turnover here.  These roles are generally posted as required.

i. Describe your interview and hiring process
Once a candidate responds to a job posting by sending a resume and cover letter, selected candidates are contacted for an interview. During this process, we will review the candidates resume, certifications (if applicable), and references will be checked. From there, chosen candidate(s) will be offered a position.



j. What do you look for in an employee?
At Trico Centre, we require all employees to provide a vulnerability sector security and police check, and to have a current Standard First Aid and CPR C certificate.
We are seeking reliable, individuals who enjoy working with the public and children. You should have great communication skills, and have high engagement in the position.



k. What type of education/training/equipment is required?
All employees are required to have a current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification. Other education/training/equipment is job specific and varies between positions at Trico Centre.



l. What is the minimum age to work in your company? Are there different age requirements for different positions?
The minimum age for some volunteer positions is ages 13 and up (with parental or legal guardian consent).
The minimum age for employment varies from 16 to 18, depending on the position.


m. Wage Range for entry level positions
Our wages vary and are job specific. Wages may vary based on education and experience.



n. What are the hours of business and general shift times?
At Trico Centre, we are flexible with scheduling, especially around school schedules. Shifts vary from position to position but can include daytimes, evenings, weekends, general holidays, and special events.
