Monrovia-Based Trader Joe's Recalls Applesauce Over Reports Of Glass Contamination

"First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce," "Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce" and "All Natural Unsweetened Apple Sauce" were recalled

MONROVIA, CA — Monrovia-based supermarket chain Trader Joe's has voluntarily recalled three of its unsweetened applesauce products because of possible glass contamination.

The recall was initiated based on customers' reports of glass fragments in the products, according to a statement by Trader Joe's Sebastopol-based supplier, Manzana Products Co. The company did not disclose how many customers complained about the glass fragments.

The recall affects Trader Joe's "First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce," "Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce" and "All Natural Unsweetened Apple Sauce." The first two sauces were sold nationwide, and the last product was only sold in California and 12 other states.
