The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge hype the Covid vaccines in another Zoom call

cambridge vaccine call

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did another joint Zoom call. William has been around in the past two weeks – Kate has not. Kate was in the wind. For a Top CEO, she sure can disappear for weeks, sometimes months on end. Considering Kate’s glossy appearance, my guess is that she spent the last fortnight keeping up with all of her appointments: hair trim, color and blowout, to a facial and maybe some Botox, to whatever else she gets done. Kate wore a deep-V-neck bodysuit by Holland Cooper, and her £530 Smythe wool blazer in a mossy green. Both are apparently repeats, but I don’t have any memory of that bodysuit. It’s quite a deep V for a duchess? I can only imagine what the papers would have said about Meghan wearing such a deep V.

As for the Zoom – Will and Kate spoke to Shivali and Fiona, two people with “long-term health conditions” who have been “shielding with their families over the course of the past year, and are now both eligible to receive the Covid 19 vaccine.” They talked about their comorbidities and what lockdown was like and the support they’ve gotten from the government and from private charities. The point is to hype the vaccines and to encourage older people, people with diabetes and asthma and others to get the vaccine when they’re able. The Windsors are clearly being used as some of the main promotional tools for the vaccine in the UK and I think that’s fair enough. Even though William A) stupidly joked about people dying from Covid in March and B) hid his Covid diagnosis for months. Whatevs.

there is no way she isn’t getting botoxed, right? I am her age and have spent a tiny fraction of the time she has in tropical sun and have the mean-mommy lines between my eyebrows like crazy. I just started using a retinol like cream because it just started bothering me a little. I look at her and thing, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?! It has to be botox, right?

    • lucky says:

just to be clear, this is not a judgement about getting botox. I have considered it for sure, its just me lamenting that it has to be something unnatural keeping her perfectly smooth and glowing… right?

      • Chaine says:

She might have some Botox, but more likely she is glowing from the never-ending ease and relaxation of boundless wealth and privilege. And yes, it is unnatural!!!

      • lucky says:

ahhhhh… this is a good point… will have to look into acquiring this poste haste.. ha!

      • A says:

Even if it’s not Botox, I just want you to know that you’re not doing anything wrong. There is nothing “wrong” with having those lines between your eyebrows. There is nothing “wrong” with the human body having folds on its skin in certain places, unless there is a medical issue to watch out for, so there is nothing to fix. And you are absolutely, 100% not doing anything wrong, just bc those lines exist.

    • Becks1 says:

It’s botox and a lot of the pictures that are released of her have been touched up.

      • Seraphina says:

Yes, the pictures look like the portrait of hers – highly touched up. Almost air brushed.

      • Q says:

The amount of photoshopping they do to her pics is amazing.
And not only on her face, but her body! I’ve seen them slimming and lengthening her legs so many times that once seen cannot be unseen.
These pics are then released to the press and tabloids. Just compare candid photos and videos taken by people with their phones to the rotten press.

      • Brass says:

It’s called a proper diet, lots of sleep and taking care of your skin. My mom is almost 60 she still has hardly any lines . She eats an organic mostly vegetarian diet , no gluten, no dairy, no junk, doesn’t smoke, hardly drinks, and does facial treatments, she’s never had Botox or anything injected in her face, just a peel or two. You really don’t have to age like crazy at 40 if you take care of your health and skin. Kate may have had Botox, but it’s also normal to have a glowing young completion at 40

      • Maria says:

LOL @Brass. Kate smokes, drinks, tans, and uses procedures galore and has since her mid 20’s. This is all photoshop.
Nothing wrong with that, but her “flawless complexion” was also attempted to be used as a stick to beat Meghan with in stupid pro-Kate anti-Meghan puff pieces so I no longer feel bad about laughing.

      • Becks1 says:

@Brass lol. It’s definitely botox. Its why her skin looks different depending on where she is in her schedule for it.

Some people do have really good skin even at the ripe old age of 40 lol (please note that’s a joke) – sometimes its due to genetics and luck, and sometimes its due to other factors – sunscreen, lots of water, what you eat, etc.

So no one is saying that because Kate’s skin looks good here it means she HAS to botox because how else could a 39 year old woman look like that, we’re saying that we know she gets botox because her skin does not always look like that.

(and for the record I’m not judging the botox, , but we bring it up because of what Maria said – Kate’s “flawless complexion” was used to attack Meghan, and also just to keep Kate on a pedestal. Its the same way about her hair and extensions – nothing is wrong with that in general, its that her hair is considered “her thing” and if its fake, then what else does she have?)

    • Elizabeth says:

Just wanted to say, I used the Peace Out Wrinkles micro needle pads from Peace Out Skincare (you can buy online) between my eyebrows twice a week for a couple weeks overnight and I really saw significant improvement. Now I just do once a week or so. My vertical wrinkles between the eyes were really annoying me on Zoom over the summer (I’m 40). Lol.

As for Kate I don’t care too much about her Botox or whatever but more so her extremely boring clothes. I feel like she didn’t use to be so boring, and sometimes she wears a great outfit (like that black suit a few months ago), but it’s almost like she *tries* to be basic and boring.

      • lucky says:

about to turn 40 here too. I will check those out, thanks!

      • Emm says:

I am quickly approaching 40 and just started using the peace out retinol eye stick. I will have to look into these now, thanks!

      • Scal says:

Ooh good tip! All these zoom calls and I’ve been noticing my 11s more and more. I think I’ve been doing more scowling.

I’ve been looking into botox/fillers for a touch up on the forehead and maybe my upper lip, but I don’t want to turn into a immovable statue. But I’m also not going to hide it or pretend otherwise. I think that’s what bugs me about Kate and her work. It’s not subtle and then she denies it (or her people do) Just say it makes you happy and that’s all there is to it.

    • Julie says:

But Kate’s skin is visibly badly aged. I noticed it first during the Fab Four conference two years ago. It was incredible that Meghan is older but looked 10 years younger. Being a person of colour comes with perks! I’m fine with Kate getting work done if aging skin bothers her.

    • Ang says:

I try to explain this to my husband, and he refuses to believe me. EVERY actor (newscaster/Royal — anyone with an ounce of vanity who is on screen a lot) gets Botox or similar treatments. They just DO. Which is why it’s so absurd to compare ourselves to their beauty standards.

      • February-Pisces says:

I have a friend like that, constantly in denial that certain celebrities get Botox and fillers. They do assume the Kardashian’s and reality stars do it, but if you say anyone like Kate gets it, they seem to think that they would never stoop so low or be that vain. My friend once thought kate moss hair colour was naturally that blonde, like she literally never dyed it. Some people are just so naive.

      • tcbc says:

        @February-Pisces

Since the careers of most of these people are at least partly based on their appearance, I don’t even think it can be called vanity. If your co-workers and clients said you need to do “x” in order to compete or make a living in your profession, you would do “x”, as long as “x” was not illegal.

IMO it’s vanity when regular people do it, but not necessarily when celebs do. And even then, study after study shows that people who are considered better looking advance farther than those who are not, regardless of work experience or qualification. So in some cases it’s an investment in your career even for the plebes.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Never mind the aging argument. Articles have actually been written about how tired and older she looks and then a week or so later she emerges refreshed and altered. She gets Botox. She gets work done. No judgement! It’s just not her natural smokers skin which has had sun damage.

      • Q says:

She’s had a ton of work done. She had her nose done, eyes, teeth, fillers and botox, and probably liposuction on her thighs but could be her diet as well seeing as she’s lost so much weight which is far from her natural thicker more athletic body.
And I haven’t even mentioned her wiglet..

    • Darla says:

Botox yes, and I am here to tell you it’s the best. I get fillers, but very sparingly. For Botox, I am there on the dot for my three month touch up. As long as you have someone who isn’t going to freeze you up by overdoing, Botox is the isht.

    • Q says:

How can you even tell with all that filter? She’s a blur.
Kind of embarrassing that you look like you’re using a 90s potato and the people you’re zooming with look clearer than you….using an apple laptop at that.

    • February-Pisces says:

It’s Botox alright, but this round look better than the previous ones. They have sorted out her Spock-brow which is a real problem with some, especially if you usually have a straight eyebrow.

    • Bibi says:

yes she is definitely botoxed. when she speaks her forehead and eyebrows barely moves (or moves so much slower than her arms and hands). I’m close to her age, have good asian genes, have not exceedingly been in the sun unlike Kate’s numerous vacations out in Mustique etc and I still have thse fine lines. I am goign to try retinol. but im not feeling the call for botox (yet?). My plan is to go facecommando injectionwise

    • kelleybelle says:

She has so much botox around the mouth that her lips don’t even meet properly when she talks. You can tell right away. Not to mention her forehead. That overall shine, also a dead give-away.

    • Korra says:

As everyone already noted, she gets botox but also has her pictures touched up. There are times she looks younger now than when she was in her early 30s — no way one ages backwards.

  2. Hell Nah! says:

Ugh at the very sight of these two.

    That’s all.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Ditto. Their pathetic attempts to jump on the vaccination wagon is just eurrgh. No substance, no impact. Even the BM found time to deride them.

  3. sunny says:

This is good. I mean, they weren’t great at following the Covid restrictions but that being said, they are figureheads in the country and it is important these types of people get in line and model good behaviour to the public.

  4. Harper says:

They look like they got a bit of sun recently. Kate is nicely rosy considering its winter and Will’s face looks a little sunburned.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Yeah thats what I though and while the UK has had some sunny weather its not enough for a tan. I would not be surprised if they had been off somewhere sunny for a short vacation – either that or its the sunbeds/fake tan.

    • Geraldine Granger says:

Of course, weren’t the kids just on holiday???

  5. Noki says:

Honestly i get increasingly angry every time i see these two muppets these days.

  6. Cecilia says:

Unrelated but: Engagement numbers on Kensingtonroyal twitter have been going down steadily. Makes me happy.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

They must have exhausted their digital budget buying followers.

    • Julie says:

Well duh. Harry and Meghan are the real stars of that show. The only engagement this cold bowl of unseasoned oatmeal get is when Sussexes haters see a Sussex story.

  7. Seraphina says:

Quite the plunge on her top. I like it and am surprised she is wearing it. She really needs to cup her hair. Something short and sleek.

    • Tiffany says:

I think someone on here reminded me that the only reason she keeps her hair that long is because Willnot likes it that way.

When she finally comes forward with a legit haircut, that will be her way of telling us something.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

When Meg gets a trim, Kate will too.

    • MF1 says:

I would love to see Kate with a sleek, straight lob cut an inch or two above the shoulders. I think she’d look a lot more stylish but still really feminine. Unfortunately she’ll never go for something that “modern” (*eyeroll*).

    • Q says:

No way will she ever get rid of her wiglet! That’s her crown!
      😂

  8. Digital Unicorn says:

Conveniently released on the back of Granny’s call and the Sussex press – they ALWAYS jump on other people’s press cycle.

The Meghan cosplay is getting stronger and stronger every time we see Top CEO. The hair, clothes, makeup and foliage in the background – its California in a Sandringham lounge.

  9. Midge says:

Kate had some fresh werk, for sure.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Someone else called it in another thread. Kate has to appear for the commonwealth video on Oprah day. She had to take at least a week off to get everything done and settled.

I’m wondering if her roast face isn’t a chemical peel.

  10. Sofia says:

If the royals manage to convince people to take the vaccine who wouldn’t before then I have no issues.

  11. Kalana says:

Is there an antivaxxer movement in the UK similar to the US? I keep seeing praise from royal stans about the royals “supporting” the vaccines but is there a lack of support from any sizeable group? Even in the US, there’s a lot of support.

It’s silly to frame any of this as the royals supporting the vaccine if the vast majority of people already support it. Are they solving an invented problem? Nothing wrong though with the royals thanking people responsibly and raising money for helping people.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

There is but scarily there is a very large anti- COVID vaccine movement here in the UK – people are refusing to take it as they don’t think it’s safe (i.e. it was developed too quickly or the human trials haven’t finished yet. It’s crazy!

      • Kalana says:

Wow, thanks. Are they in the Brexit supporter group?

In that case if the royals do have some sway with them, then all the better.

      • SarahCS says:

Kalana, apparently supporters of Nigel Farage (Mr Brexit) are the least likely to get vaccinated.

      • Lemons says:

In this case, I do hope the royals can convince these people to take the vaccine.

      • BayTampaBay says:

These anti-vaxxers hide out at the Daily Fail comment sections. The comments on the article regarding QEII’s Public Service Announcement on the vaccine was literally 90% anti-vaccine and also very disrespectful to the Queen.

    • My Two Cents says:

Isn’t them getting involved with supporting vaccines seen as ‘political’ though? How is this allowed and even encouraged, when others were simply telling people to vote and it caused outrage after outrage.

      • BayTampaBay says:

It is consider “getting political” by the commentariats of The Fail, The Slow and The Scum. I have been there and read all about it.

    • Caela says:

We have 2 distinct anti vaxxer groups: white anti vaxxers who are concerned about the speed of it, or may be anti vax in general. And then a BAME (British acronym for POC) population who have understandable historical concerns with distrusting the establishment. Can’t fault W&K for this, I think it’s important work.

      • Dollycoa says:

That’s true but even the suck up press were pointing out that the Royals arent really the people to reach minority groups in the UK. That should be concerning for the Royals, when we have such a diverse population, especially in the younger age groups, but they are so arrogant they probably think it doesnt matter.

  12. S808 says:

I’m sorry but I chuckle whenever I see their background.

  13. Eating Popcorn says:

Can we please call out that hideous fake ficus in the background? It is awful! It looks like something from a local access TV set.

  14. Andrew’s Nemesis says:

Has she bought a new face for the occasion? The thumbnail doesn’t look like her at all!

  15. aquarius64 says:

The queen got dragged for her COVID message. How can the Cambridge be taken seriously with William’s past comments and lack of comment for his COVID exposure?

  16. one of the Marys says:

William is so unphotogenic , very unfortunate for someone who has to maintain an online presence. His smiles look like grimaces

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

His mouth is small and his teeth are huge. NOT a winning combo. Also, his smile *rarely* reaches his eyes. ALWAYS “feels” forced.

    • Royalwatcher says:

Agree with Jan and add that it’s his flared nostrils for me. They send the message of contempt, so no matter the rest of his expression, all that comes through for me is his contempt for his wife, the plebs he’s forced to interact with, his “hard done by” woe is me life (in his own mind), etc.

  17. Who ARE These People? says:

If their press office wrote the summary, wouldn’t “sheltering” in place be more accurate than “shielding?” I don’t think this is a transatlantic difference. It sounds more like a mistake.

    • SarahCS says:

Shielding is the term here for people who are high risk and have been staying at home since we went into the first lockdown last March.

  18. Mina_Esq says:

Why are they smiling when Prince Philip is in the hospital?! I joke, I joke. I like the blouse. Glad they are finally doing something helpful.

  19. Amy Bee says:

This video makes the press’ complaints about Harry’s segment on James Corden coming out at the same time as the Queen’s video were unnecessary and an overreaction. It’s obvious that the senior members of the Royal Family are being used by the British Government to encourage people to take the vaccine. William and Kate are supposedly the most popular after the Queen and I’m sure the media knew that they were going to do a video similar to the Queen’s so the message was not going to be lost as they complained.

    • The Hench says:

The media complaining about H&M ‘overshadowing’ is just crazy – if Harry’s interview overshadowed the Queen et al then it’s because the media reported it that way. Then they write a whole load of stories criticising Harry for the fact they reported it that way. Here’s a tip – if you really believed the Queen’s message should have taken precedence then you should have given it precedence. But we know and they know that what they really want is clicks/readership. Stories about Harry drive that more than those about the Queen so this way they get TWO sets of stories about Harry – covering the interview then covering criticising the interview. The BM are utter b*stards.

  20. RoyalBlue says:

The fake plastered smiles they like to present us with makes them seem straight out of a 1960s McCall cloth pattern ad.

The sooner people take the vaccines, the sooner these two can get out there and start merching again.

  21. Cali says:

Kate’s hair color is amazing and she looks great here.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

      Cali
I agree! The issue is Kate looks great because she still travels and insists upon her cosmetic upkeep regimen which is not a solo venture.

While many are showing greys, Kate changes hair color every other week and has tans from vacations or cosmetically altered appearances. Which she enjoys on her father in laws funds and always has.
But she exposes others and acts above quarantine to do so. It’s selfish.

So, the issue is never to judge her for having work done. It’s the timing.

  22. ShazBot says:

the more work she gets done, she looks more and more like Carole I think.

  23. Gruey says:

I’m sorry but MH need to check their basement cuz the Keens really looking like they’re squatting in Montecito

  24. Tiffany says:

She really needs to stop with the fillers, especially in the cheekbone area.

That is all I see on her face now.

  25. Phoenix says:

I think she gets work done. You can see William’s wrinkles and forehead scar but on her there is nothing. And she looked pretty bad last summer.
I don’t mind her having some work done, what I hate is her trolls always prising her for being all natural when she obvliously isn’t.
And honestly the Cambridges did pretty bad job during the pandemic. Everytime I see them speaking about covid related issues I cringe inside. What hypocrites they are!

  26. Beach Dreams says:

So, they’ve been doing the “temporary Sandringham office” thing for over a month now. Not like they’ve been doing any more “work” than usual, so this arrangement just looks even stranger.

Also, I don’t know if it’s the photoshop or the cosmetic work itself, but Kate’s appearance continues to veer towards uncanny valley. She doesn’t even look like herself anymore.

  27. Kyliegirl says:

I haven’t watched the video or listened to it, just saw it on a twitter timeline. I am surprised these two don’t get the body language expert treatment. Their responses when the other is speaking are something. In the clip I saw, Kate definitely gives William the side eye. When you compare the videos of them together vs alone, they are both much happier and engaged when they are alone. Good on them for encouraging people to get the vaccine though.

    • Nic919 says:

William also makes faces when she speaks. And the way they are sitting is hidden by the angle of that photo, because he is leaning close to the laptop and she’s sitting back and away from him. There are a ton of awkward body language moments with them in that video, but so few actually watch it, few will even notice it.

The message of getting a vaccine is great. But it’s too bad they helped spread the virus with their ego tour.

  28. Lemons says:

If they want to encourage us to get the vaccine, why didn’t we see them get the vaccine?
Why are we getting more Zooms of encouragement, when again…where is the action?!

The Zoom is fine, but the anti-vaxxers are not going to be convinced since they couldn’t even see you get it, and Willileaks didn’t even bother to share that he had Covid.

    • Nic919 says:

Technically no one their age is allowed to get it in the UK unless they have a chronic medical condition like asthma.

I do expect to see William get his done on camera. I doubt Kate will though.

  29. Elle says:

Why is she dressing like a business lady from 1993 and why are his GIANT TEETH so yellow?

  30. Passerby says:

I think Kate is pregnant. Her face is fulller, like it normally is when she’s with child. I know, I know bump watch -speculation isn’t nice…I’m just saying. Also , how awkward was it when they announced that they were trying for number 4. Aren’t the tax payers paying enough 🙄🤷🏽‍♀️

  31. Lizzie says:

Lecture from the most privileged yet lazy couple in the country. No way.

  32. What I noticed about Kate is whereas before she had that hyena-like gaping smile, recent photos show now that when she smiles her mouth is somewhat already closed. She has closed that wide gap. She must have done jaw surgery to do that. And yes she’s definitely done Botox. Her crow’s feet and visible forehead wrinkles are now invisible.
