Kanye West to Donald Trump, in the Oval Office: ‘I love this guy right here’

President Donald J. Trump meets Kanye West!

Well, it happened. Kanye West went to the White House. He met with Donald Trump and they posed together in the Oval Office, where Kanye gave a rambling, curse-filled speech and declared his love for Trump. This was before they had lunch. At one point, Kanye went to Trump’s side of the Resolute Desk and hugged him. The whole thing was awful and embarrassing. Let’s see how the political sites covered it. From Roll Call:

After multiple expletive-laden monologues in front of the press in which he referred to himself as “motherf—–,” claimed President Donald Trump “stopped the war” with North Korea, and hammered his fists emphatically on the famed Resolute Desk of the Oval Office, rapper Kanye West wheeled around to the other side of the desk and gave the president a hug.

“I love this guy right here,” West said, embracing Trump while wearing the president’s trademark red “Make America Great Again” ball cap.

“That’s really nice,” the president said, beaming toward the cameras behind the right shoulder of the man they call Yeezus. At a press conference before the pair broke for a private lunch, West praised Trump at length, touching on his handling of North Korea’s increasing nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities, his thoughts on gun control, his “love” for Hillary Clinton, and how “boring” school is.

“They tried to scare me, my friends, to not wear this hat, but this hat, it gives me power in a way,” West said of the red MAGA hat he wore to the meeting. “When I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman — my favorite superhero. You made a Superman cape for me.”

When asked by a member of the press for his opinions on gun control, West, who is from Chicago, a city with some of the highest violent crime volume in the country, responded candidly. “Illegal guns is the problem, not legal guns,” West said. “We have the right to bear arms.”

[From Roll Call]

I’m including the video below. The video made me more uncomfortable than just reading Roll Call’s efficient and disturbing summary. It’s a mess. I’ve said for months now that Kanye is canceled, but it’s more than that now: now he’s in the realm of Ted Nugent. Meaning, Kanye is so disturbed and out-of-it and hypocritical that we just need to ignore him almost entirely. Also: look how glassy his eyes are. He’s not “off his meds.” He’s medicating with something, probably fascism and opioids.

You know, I’m usually here looking for ways to defend Kanye – but enough. Enough enough enough.

I hope Kim leaves him and destroys whatever is left of him, in the process.

And those of y’all ready to blame the wife for his antics – no. He’s responsible for himself. Don’t come here blaming Kim or Kris for this shit.

    Fu*k this guy.

Everyone is a loser in this story honestly. I think it’s a shame that it’s getting so much media attention when there are other things that should be front page. The murdered journalist in Saudi Arabia…why this is constantly talked about, I don’t know. Didn’t the crown prince say he had kushner in his pocket?…and the journalist was an American citizen. Crazy stuff going on in the world and this is the biggest story today, Kanye and trump. 2018 in a nutshell

      • Clare says:

Well the orange one did say the journalist’s disappearance wouldn’t stop the US selling arms to the Saudi’s so….here we are. A nice little distraction.

And yes I agree, sad all around.

      • Jerusha says:

The Saudis have trump in their pocket with direct infusions of cash and propping up his tacky hotels-his reason for everything, money, money, money. He’ll never take action against them.

If Don the Con invited someone in the White House who is obviously not well, he then invited in the press to see the clown show you bet it will get a lot of coverage and reporting. To be honest the shame of this lies with the Dotard in the White House. We have a hurricane in Florida that wiped out entire towns while the dotard is holding a rally, the stocks are falling, a Washington journalist was murdered by one of Jerad’s best buddy who gave JK free reigns with their check, free money for Don the Con and Jared K with their open checkbook, why expect anything but insanity, while their are lining their pockets. Any other president would be busy with his cabinet to solve some of those problems in the world, but not this one. The deplorables elected a clown and now we are living a circus.

      • geekychick says:

Saudi Arabia and USA are partners for years. Years. USA is selling weapon and as long as Saudis are buying, USA doesn’t care about anything they do, including: Bin Laden, murdering and starving of Yemeni children, blatant breaking of human rights, blatant disregard of women and all of the other nefarious s**it they’ve been doing for years.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

Its getting all the attention because Toadstool wants the world to know that celebrities love him. There are clips of him the other day walking back to talk to journalists outside the White House when he heard Taylor Swift’s name – he wanted to know why they were talking about her in the off chance he could brag about how another celebrity loves him. Instead he just slagged her off when he found out she’d come out as a Democrat.

He is desperate to be loved by HW and the big celebrities – he scrapes the barrel with Kid Rock and Scott Biao.

      • Tiffany :) says:

One minor correction, Missy. The journalist wasn’t an American citizen. He was a Saudi citizen that had a US green card and was living in the US. He was a US resident. That doesn’t change the completely horrific crime that was committed, though.

It is terrifying what Trump’s response says to the rest of the world and especially dictators.

I just saw a literal Nazi. I was driving and this car in front of me had all this white supremacist stuff on it with images of skulls and violence, and I passed the guy— totally tatted up skinhead. I didn’t know what to do. I panicked and pulled off. I’m home and I’m still panicking. This was a mile from my home. My terror has reached a new level. What could I have done? Called the police? No. Does anyone have any advice? I’m shaking.

      • JayneBirkinB says:

StumpiCorgi, so sorry about your neo-nazi experience. Just breathe for a while. Here is your checklist for your calendar:

10/31: Halloween – dress up and have fun
11/01: Day of the Dead / All Saints Day – say a prayer for your dearly departed
11/04: End of Daylight Savings Time – Turn your clocks back, sleep in an extra hour
        11/06: Election Day – ****VOTE****!!!!

    • PaulaHay says:

Ok, I don’t think this is fair. He is obviously in the throes of mania. Wishing ill will on someone who is obviously having a public breakdown is unkind. Everyone just wants to be angry and hate him because they hate Trump, but jeepers, where is the compassion? I know exactly what it’s like to live with someone who refuses to admit they are unwell and hence, refuses medication. This is what happens – illusions of grandeur, nonsensical rants, the god-complex mentality, obsession etc.

I feel that in North America (particularly because it is a very politically-correct environment) there is a habit of building celebrities up and then just “canceling” them as soon as they say something wrong or something that doesn’t align with the status quo. They are people and humans and we are so hard on them. I am not defending the things he is saying, but I am tired but people turning on celebrities like this. Have you ever said something stupid? Have your thoughts and opinions evolved? Have you ever been depressed or self-medicating? I don’t know. I feel bad for him. I feel bad for Kim. Mental illness sucks.

      • MattyLove says:

        Thank you for this!

      • Clare says:

@paula I appreciate the kindness and compassion reflected in your post – and if you went back to look at y comments on Kanye I hope you’d find at least a small amount of something similar – however, I am just over trying to defend someone who is actively hurting other people.

The reason I am over trying to defend/understand him is that I find his comments about the 13th amendment and black identity extremely troubling (and dangerous). There are real consequences for his actions and words.

Ofcourse mental illness sucks – for the person that is ill and for their family. And as I said, I’m grateful there are people like you to offer your gentler perspective. But he is someone with illness that is actively hurting other people – which I can no longer defend.

For what it’s worth, I am not in North America, and I’m also not ‘cancelling’ him – just saying that I will no longer defend him and I hope he loses his platform so he can stop using it to hurt other people. (And asking that we please not blame his wife for his actions)

      • PaulaHay says:

@Clare I completely value your opinion and thank you for your response! And I do agree that he ought to lose his platform until he gets well.

      • Jessica says:

The problem I have with the poor kanye angle is that kanye has no compassion for kids in cages, black people shot by the police, the dismantling of civil rights He is mentally ill but he’s also an asshole with no empathy for anyone but himself. He does not care about the vulnerable and disenfranchised himself so why should people in the community care about him? He’s took our hard earned dollars and now he throws the community under the bus to embrace a bigot. That’s not because he’s menralky ill that’s because he’s an ignorant asshole who is in thrall to celebrity and power. And his reasons for voting for trump was straight up misogyny. He doesn’t want a female president because he doesn’t believe females should be in power.

      • B n A fn says:

kW has to take care of his health himself. If he’s not willing to take responsibility for taking his medication it’s on him. If he wants to make a fool of himself it’s on him. Btw, I hope people stop blaming his irrational behavior on the death of his mother, We all have to go through challenging times and rise above it. he better but on his big boy’s pants and realize he has three children, they need someone they can look up to, jmo.

      • Ennie says:

Poor Kanye. He could be ill and hurt himself and his family, but he has a platform that is being used by conservatives disregarding his mental health. That is despicable. He doesn’t need more enablers, the problem is that he is famous and has money to continue being this way without tocihing rock bottom and then try to decide to keep taking medicines and follow a healthier path where people does not use him, but he loves to have his a** kissed.

      • Cay says:

Many of us live with people with mental disorders and they aren’t all self-centered attention-seekers. Don’t jump on people who have a problem with what Kanye says. Have a problem with the people who told Kanye this was a good thing to do. Have a problem with a White House that wanted to use and showcase Kanye in this state of mind. Have a problem with the POTUS who says gun tragedies in our country are because of mental illness and then sits silently across the desk from a man with mental illness and doesn’t address the problem in the room.

Yes, mental illness sucks, but there are often ways to deal with it. He is choosing not to take his meds or to self-medicate. I know you think you are just trying to be compassionate, but your rebuke is a little offensive when so many of us go through every day wondering how our loved with ones with mental illness will survive the day. And, yes, it is up to his wife/friends/family to try to help him. We who live with and love those with mental illness take on a great deal of added responsibility to keep that loved one safe, healthy, and alive.

      • Laur says:

@paulahay I completely agree, this is clearly a sign of severe mania, he’s coming out and saying he’s been misdiagnosed with bipolar – that’s exactly what a person experiencing a manic phase might say. I actually feel sorry for him because we’re watching this all so publicly, it’s almost Britney-esque, and I’m sure we’ll get the obligatory nude selfie on Instagram from Kim to detract. I don’t feel like he has anyone genuinely looking out for his best interests as the Klan either don’t under don’t care about mental health issues.

      • C says:

I agree. We shouldn’t make fun of him. He’s mentally ill.

      • LahdidahBaby says:

You make important points, PaulaHay. Thanks for infusing this bit of humanity into our freeforall because I’m as guilty as anyone here—probably because as a longtime defender of Kanye here, I have felt so let down by his cowtowing to our would-be dictator…but yes, his behavior does have all the features of mania, and I need to summon a bit of compassion for him.

      • Kiki says:

Mental illness is not an excuse for being a d-bag. Can we please stop acting like it is.

      • Silent Star says:

If someone really loved him they would take him by the arm and say “Shh, it’s all over now. Let’s just walk away from all of this quietly now. That’s right, come along. It’s going to be ok” and they would find him a nice remote place where there are no celebrities and no Wi-Fi and he could have some physicians and nurses and therapists and also some toys to entertain himself with and he would disappear for a long time until he saw how amazing life could be without the media and hopefully he could be brought back to some semblance of health and lucidity.

Aster writing this I realize it might be hard to know if I mean Kanye or Trump, but same difference really.

      • Silent Star says:

I think it’s important to note that the idea of “cancelling” can mean it’s just time to stop assuming this person knows what they’re talking about. Time to stop feeding the dragon.

      • CairinaCat says:

Using mental illness as an excuse for his @sshole behavior is total BS

I’m extremely bipolar, my kids, my sister’s a few of my friends. Some medicated some not, but all of us diagnosed. And shocker, it has made none of us racist pieces of $hit. None of us support white supremacist behavior or fascism.

My youngest sister is annoying af right now because she is currently manic, but she still isn’t any of those things.

Being mentally I’ll doesn’t make you a racist, a fascist, or an entitled @$$hole. It just enhances it.

      • Derriere says:

I would agree with you if Kanye didn’t have the resources to get help, if he didn’t have a family who should be reigning in his crazy. But he has people who are telling him to get help, he should have a wife who is clearly able to tell him to get help or eat rocks, but her fame and notoriety are more important than the black bodies piling up from police brutality or the kids in cages separated from their loved ones who will never be able to get the help for trauma that Kanye has access to, who may never reunite with their parents because Kanye cares more about feeling like a man in a MAGA hat than the actual feelings of abused children.

He’s gross. His family is gross. Trump is gross. I don’t care about his maybe mental illness. I want him to go away.

    • aneflex says:

Why not? We all love to sit around here and blame Melania, and Moonves’ wife?

    • H says:

What most people forget is the majority of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis. This is how their facist government operates and 45 will do nothing about this journalist’s murder.

As for Kanye, speaking as someone with bipolar disorder…he’s manic. Sure, he’s also an asshole and a narcissist, but mania makes him think he’s “Superman.”

    • Stumpycorgi says:

      Make Kanye 2004 again:

“It seems we living the American dream,
But the people highest up got the lowest self esteem.
The prettiest people do the ugliest things,
For the road to riches and diamond rings.
We shine because they hate us, floss cause they degrade us.
We’re trying to buy back our 40 acres.
And for that paper, look how low we will stoop.
Even if you in a Benz, you still a n— , it’s cool.

I’m telling you oh, it all falls down.
When it falls down who you gonna call?

I say f*ck the police, that’s how I treat ‘em.
We buy our way out of jail, but we can’t buy freedom.
We’ll buy a lot of clothes, but we don’t really need ‘em.
Things we buy to cover up what’s inside.
Cause they make us hate ourself, and love their wealth.
That’s why shorties holler ‘Where the ballas’ at?’
Drug dealer buy Jordans, crackhead buy crack,
And a white man get paid off of all of that.

I’m telling you all, it all falls down.
And when it falls down, who you gonna call?”

      — Kanye West “All Falls Down”

      • LahdidahBaby says:

Stumpycorgi–thanks for reminding us what Kanye can do when he’s whole. This is a tragedy happening before our eyes, and I will confess that it has been too easy for me to judge him without considering his illness because I despise Trump so much I couldn’t bear to see Kanye kowtowing to him. I know I shouldn’t let my hate for Trump compromise my humanity. Sad to say, I think the despicable Trump has compromised the humanity of millions…and we’re not even two full years into this debacle he calls a presidency.

  2. Eleonor says:

I can’t believe Kim is still married to him.

  3. Maya says:

Both need to be admitted to a mental institution as soon as possible…

  4. Kiki says:

#CancelKanye. I am done with Kanye West.

    • Annie says:

Kanye’s sick and in a manic phase. He’s going to crash at some point. I feel sorry for him. As for the Oval Office person, shame on him.

      • Oliviajoy1995 says:

I don’t feel sorry for him. He’s damn near 40. Take your medication. If he chooses not to his delusion and paranoia are on him. He was an asshole long before his mom died and he still is one. I think everything he does is for attention. Trump feeds into his craziness. Kanye’s career should be over if it isn’t yet.

  5. Tate says:

Murdered journalist, stock market diving and Florida getting hit with a hurricane. president of the United States hangs out with kanye in the oval. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • Patty says:

That was my first thought too. Could you imagine the uproar if President Obama had taken a White House meeting with Jay-Z the day after Sandy? Meanwhile, Drump is having rallies in the days leading up to Michael and meeting with an ass kisser the day after. No official statement yet on Michael. Nothing. It’s just absolutely disgusting.

      • Nancy says:

He did everything but blame Puerto Rico itself for Maria. Do we expect anything different from this creep. Maybe he has a paper towel toss planned for later. Of course, he will be tweeting what a wonderful job he did. Have to admit, even he the most verbose person on the planet was almost speechless after listening to Kanye. Mr. West needs help, hard to absorb any of this nonsense.

      • Juls says:

Trump even had a huge campaign rally in Panama City 2 years ago this week. I know because I was vacationing in Mexico Beach and I remember commenting that I thought I smelled sulfur when I saw him in the local news there. Now PC and my beloved Mexico Beach are destroyed and he hasn’t said a word. I hate him.

    • AnnaKist says:

Yep. Twat One and Twat Two in mutual admiration. trumpo’s hair in the first pic… 😂 😂😂

    • Tiffany :) says:

      Great post, great points.

    • AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Tate – absolutely true. Drumpf always tries to divert. Of course he’s probably hoping kanye will make up for the votes that Taylor Swift lost for Repugs

  6. runcmc says:

Honestly? Kim should leave him. I feel bad for her, this dude is supposed to help her raise her biracial children? Geez.

    • Swack says:

I do not feel sorry for Kim. She chooses to stay with him. She has more than enough money and help to leave him. Yes it is desirable to have both parents in a child’s life but I believe it not good at this time for Kanye to be their lives.

    • Isabelle says:

He has no doubt a mental illness, maybe more complicated than we think. She may also really love him.

    • dolly says:

WTF does the kids being bi-racial have to do w/anything???

      • Em says:

I don’t think she’s around all the time it’s long been rumored they don’t live together full time. It’s not a traditional marriage by all accounts.

      • jwoolman says:

His kids being biracial is significant because his wife and her family are not black and simply cannot help their kids (who will experience life in the US as black people) navigate the various forms of racism they will encounter. They need Kanye and his relatives to help them understand and to know what to do. Kanye is hopeless for that, so that really is a major problem for the kids.

If Kim maintains good contact with all of Kanye’s relatives, that may be sufficient. But it’s not clear that she understands that need herself. Kim has said that “we don’t see color in our house”, which means she is in deep denial of the reality for children whose skin color is not applied with a spray can.

When friends who are pale adopted a couple of kids who are not to add to their birth children, they took special measures to make sure their kids had friends and adult models around them who were black. They had originally been living and working in a black community so it was initially easy, but they had to step up their game very deliberately when they moved to a predominantly white community when he changed jobs. I don’t see Kim doing that so easily because she doesn’t think it’s needed.

  7. Tanguerita says:

I honestly think that the only reason Kanye jumped on the Trump’s train is because Obama called him “jackass”. He doesn’t care about anyone or anything. He is an ignorant narcissist whose only concern is himself.

    • Missy says:

Yup! Plus the biggest media headline these days is anything to due with trump, this is Kanyes way of getting as much attention as possible. I’m no fan of Kim kardashian, but I sure hope she leaves him. If he’s repeating all this stuff to his kids, they have no chance. Can you imagine how those kids will turn out with Kanye as their dad and Kim as their mom…somethings gotta give.

      • Nancy says:

Missy, thank you for not capitalizing his name. This is one of the small ways I can protest and my disdain for him. I haven’t capitalized the t for Tyrant since the election. Wish everyone would follow suit. Small gesture, but other than voting, it helps.

      • Missy says:

Unfortunately I cannot vote, I am a Canadian but have been watching all this with horror over the last few years. I am hoping beyond hope that the next few years will be better for my American neighbours and you can get out from under this craziness.

      • Nancy says:

Thank you for standing with us. What happens in America affects the whole world. It is comforting to know most of the World shares our opinion of him and knows this too shall pass. I love Canada….Joni Mitchell! Thanks Missy

      • lucy2 says:

I agree he’s doing this for the attention. He’s manic or something right now, and honestly I think we should just ignore him.
For his kids’ sake, I hope he gets help and gets better.

    • Anna says:

Word. I been saying this for years. He can’t live it down. To be a child of the south side of Chicago, raised by literary giants in the legacy of the Black Arts Movement, at super star level but then act a fool and the first Black US President who also happens to be from the south side, just mere miles from where Ye grew up, steeped in that history…and Obama calls him (rightfully so) a jackass? I feel like that was the moment he lost it. He could never live it down. whatever though. I been saying he’s a fool since and no one wanted to hear it, always stanning for him. whatevs. He’s destroying everything, crash and burn. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if a more dramatic and deep rock bottom is on the way…I pray he will stay alive and safe.

  8. Rescue Cat says:

    Yawn. I wasn’t triggered.

  9. Beth says:

Cringe causing Kanye. It was sooo creepy to watch, and very obvious somethings wrong with Kanye. Seeing Trump uncomfortable and speechless was enjoyable, but I honestly felt a little bad about what a fool of himself Kanye looked like

    • Juls says:

He expressed his love for Trump, and the response was “that’s really nice.” Kanye Costanza should have been more confident in the “love” being reciprocated before putting that matzo ball out there hahahaha.

  10. minx says:

It was disgusting. Kanye was incoherent. He obviously has daddy issues.

    • Isabelle says:

Trump has Daddy issues as well.

      • jwoolman says:

Kanye has serious issues with women as well. He said that “I’m with her (Hillary)” didn’t make him feel strong but putting on that stupid MAGA hat did. How weird is that? He just told us that he couldn’t deal with a woman as President because he doesn’t feel “strong” with a woman in the White House even though he also claims “I love Hillary”. Nice for his wife and daughters.

    • jay says:

His mom would be rolling in her grave over that comment.

  11. SM says:

This is what I also felt watching it, it made me unfomfortable. It just shows the level of delusion humanity can achieve. Everyting else – war, famine, Holocaust, genocide seems like a logic consequence of human ability to not think, not educate one self and be endlessly receptive to illusions

  12. MattyLove says:

He’s clearly in a manic phase of his bipolar. Flight of ideas, pressured speech, grandiosity. He’s not well.

I feel sorry for his family. My dad is severely bipolar but when he’s manic, it’s not all over TV. Having a bipolar family member is considered to be more stressful to the family than even a cancer diagnosis. Judge him for not taking his meds but also have some compassion for his disease.

    • Clare says:

Honestly, mattylove, I ran out of compassion when he started talking nonsense about the 13th amendment and block identity.

I feel awful for his wife and children (imagine that, sympathy for a Kardashian, but here we are) but I’ve run out of sympathy for him. His words and actions have very real impact, and personally I am more concerned about the negative impact of his actions on regular people, than I am about HIM.

      • MattyLove says:

I can agree not to have compassion regarding his choices but he has an organic brain disease. The prevailing theory (highly simplified) is that there are malfunctions of the ion channels in the brain. His brain is literally misfiring and malfunctioning.

      • Isabelle says:

Is something he can’t necessarily control. If you have ever lived with a person with mental disorder, like BPD or whatever, you just can’t leave. You love this person and you know their disease isn’t them because you know the real them. But it sure isn’t easy.

      • Anna says:

So why doesn’t he get the help he needs? He is at a superstar level. He has money and access. To be spewing this crap that is/will hurt so many people, it’s just not acceptable.

    • Patty says:

His disease has nothing to do with this spectacle. Mental illness doesn’t cause people to be ill informed twats who suck up to wanna be dictators. That’s just who Kanye is.

      • MattyLove says:

It literally has everything to do with this spectacle. A person talking like this and perceiving things this way are literally hallmarks of his disease. Again, I’m judging his choices and his decision to stop his meds right along with the rest of you. But what we are seeing and hearing here is literally uncontrolled bipolar. And one of the hardest things about dealing with a family member with bipolar is them stopping their meds. And a bipolar patient stopping their meds is unfortunately the more likely course than someone staying compliant. I have spent the majority of my adult life coming to terms with this and working with counselors to understand it.

      • jwoolman says:

Patty – A person’s whole personality can change with certain events in the brain. This is often seen after damage done by a stroke. A biochemical disorder likewise can cause drastic changes in someone’s thinking and behavior.

Our real self is far more fragile an idea than we tend to think. Events over which we have no control can change us fundamentally in an instant.

      • Isabelle says:

Very wrong info and misinformed. This is an opinion you have not facts.

      • Silent Star says:

Can we hold the media a bit responsible? Kanye can melt down all he wants, but he should not have his delusional pontifications televised across the world, influencing people who don’t know any better.

    • Megan says:

He has all the money and contacts in the world to get the best professional help and he chooses to be off his meds and put his family at risk. I feel sorry for someone who has mental health problems and doesn’t have the money or support to get help. This idiot is a disgrace.

      • PaulaHay says:

You obviously have never lived with someone who is severely mentally ill and refuses to take their medication. Short of calling the police under the mental health act when they are a threat, there is diddly squat you can with a mentally ill adult in the midst of a breakdown. Money means jack. I do feel sorry for him. He does not CHOOSE to be off his meds either. That’s a very uninformed opinion. The side effects of a lot of these tablets are horrible. And sometimes the afflicted just want to just feel normal and try to wean off or take a break. And unfortunately, the disease creeps back and it can take a long time to stabilize after. Also, if you are in the midst of a crisis (especially with a personality disorder) you tend to think that everyone is against you and that you are the only one with all of the answers. That is the illness. Ugh these comments make me sad.

      • H says:

Actually, Kanye could be put under a conservatorship like Britney Spears was. Kanye needs to be on medication. I have to remind myself every single day when I take my lithium, even when I’m feeling well, that I still have to take it. If Kanye’s family truly cared about him they would hire an attorney like Spears’ father did and immediately do a conservatorship.

      • Ennie says:

I can’t see any of the kardashians getting that type of responsibility on their shoulders

      • Isabelle says:

Megan—-you do realize there isn’t a cure no matter how much money you have or will have, the best doctor, no doctor? You can’t just take one pill to make it all go away. I can’t believe how very misinformed people are on mental illness.

      • Patty says:

All I’m saying is that Kanye’s adoration of Trump is not related to whatever mental disorder he may have. His adoration of Trump comes from his ignorance and narcissism; which would still be there even if he didn’t have bipolar. Kanye made some great music but he’s always been very attention seeking and narcissistic. I don’t know why everyone is so quick to assume that he only supports Trump because he’s off his meds. It’s very presumptive and more than likely false. That’s just who Kanye is.

    • STRIPE says:

I hear you ML! I also have a family member who is bipolar. While I don’t hold her responsible for the things she does after she’s off her meds, per se, I hold her responsible for choosing to go off of them, and allowing whatever happens in her manic state to transpire.

    • PaulaHay says:

      Totally agree with you!

    • geekychick says:

He’s supporting a guy who’s imprisoning children, causing future generations immense trauma. He’s literally breaking children down. This guy is supporting him. There are many mentally ill people in the world. This one has a platform and uses it for supporting a criminal. I feel like maybe it’s time to stop making excuses for absolutely everyone.
Just because you’re ill-and after you’ve been offered all the help you may need-you do/say horrible things, why don’t I have a right to cancel you? He cancels women all the time with his misoginy. And he was very much healthy while disparaging Amber and her CHILD.
The point is, he can try to make amends when he gets better…..but who guarantees that he will? Are you 100%, absoultely sure that this is result of just his illness?
So no, untill he changes his tune, I don’t see why should I keep giving him second chances. I’m not burning him at stake. I’m not calling for his death. I’m saying that I won’t support, finance or give clicks to anything he does. I don’t see how this makes me insensitive to plight of mentally ill.

    • Molly says:

I feel absolutely sorry for his kids. Kim thought his attention-seeking was cute and totally on brand for her life until we ended up here. This is way past ratings and narcissism. I really hope he starts getting the help he very clearly needs.

    • Sandra says:

A lot of people are saying he’s in a manic phase, and as someone who doesn’t know anyone with this, I have to ask – how long does a manic phase last? Because it seems like he’s always in a manic phase.

      • MattyLove says:

There’s no way to know how long it will las. It’s different for each person and even each episode. You literally have to provide them with “finger food” because they can’t focus long enough to eat a meal. So you try to provide them with high-calorie “snack” type food that they can just grab to carry with them while they’re “running.” They don’t sleep. They don’t stop. Until they crash down to the lowest low imaginable. It’s tragic.

  13. Lightpurple says:

How dare the media not keep Princess Nagini in every frame?

    • TurkeyLurkey says:

I did see a picture of Kanye and Ivanka hugging after his rant so she got herself in there.

  14. Megan says:

He’s an idiot. He’s hurting Kim’s “brand” everytime he opens his mouth. Not to mention the damage he’s doing to his kids with this unhinged behaviour. Kim needs to leave and take the kids!

  15. RBC says:

Okay, why were cameras filming this meeting? Usually they do one photo op and then the meeting is held behind closed doors. It was embrassing to watch
Also how come 45 couldn’t postpone the meeting considering what is happening in Florida? Was meeting Kanye that important?

    • Rescue Cat says:

Maybe Trump’s gonna give him enougjh rope tp hang himself and then throw him under the bus. If he does Kanye won’t have anywhere to go after professing his love for Trump. It’s brutal.

      • RBC says:

Yep, that video is going to be around forever. If Kanye decides to turn on 45, he will just play clips of Kanye to his followers at rallies.
Kanye is headed for a hard landing and I hate to say it all of it will be on film(and also featured on KUWTK)

    • jwoolman says:

RBC – President Tweeter isn’t going to do or say anything helpful about the storm other than to marvel at how it’s very wet and very windy. He might as well meet with his fellow loon. Hopefully emergency services know by now to be ready to go without any direction from Tweeter.

    • jwoolman says:

RBC – The cameras were running because President Tweeter needs as much media time as possible with anyone not melanin-deficient who loves him to pieces and wears a MAGA hat that doesn’t say My Attorney Got Arrested. Tweeter is deluded enough to think that Kanye will deliver the black vote for him. And Kanye is deluded enough to think that Tweeter is his opportunity to run for President himself in 2024. If Tweeter (god forbid) wins re-election in 2020, Kanye will run as a Republican and say he will make America even greater again.

We are possessed by demons and lunatics.

      • Gina says:

Plus- he needs as much media coverage as possible so there is plenty of footage for the news outlets to run. More footage of this mess, the less time they are spending covering what is really going on, the stock market, the hurricane, Saudi Arabia.
Drump is king of the side show to distract from what’s really going on. This time he brought out his number one clown.

    • Tiffany :) says:

This was supposed to be a meeting about actual issues, with an agenda that focused on issues affecting African Americans. It says TERRIBLE things that, instead of bringing in actual experts on criminal justice reform, etc., he brings in a musician and an athlete. This is Trump pretending that he is addressing “black issues”, but actually doing worse than the bare minimum. If issues don’t affect his base, this is how much he cares about them. It is insulting how flippant he is about dire issues.

  16. Caity says:

If Kim wants to leave Kanye just gift-wrapped her pr spin. But I would leave too.
The only thing that might stop kim leaving Kanye would be her clemency advocacy. If she feels she won’t get presidential pardons with a divorce she might stick it out, at least until the fever dies down and the orange one needs her for a PR boost.

    • AnnaKist says:

She’d be in it up to her pussy bow if it gave her entry into those circles. First it was the fashion and music elite, so maybe now she wants in on the political clique. How much higher can you go than the president, such as he is?

      • Jerusha says:

Any self-respecting person would know that a huckster selling counterfeit purses on a street corner is higher than President Lardass. I guess the operative word is self-respecting.

  17. Catmom says:

Wow. Train wreck, dumpster fire doesn’t even cover it. So disturbing I couldn’t watch beyond the one clip. He’s legit like someone you’d see ranting on a street corner or on the subway. I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be to spend time with him. Kim should be exploring all her options at this point. Involuntary commitment and divorce among them, I’m sure. He needs help.

  18. Darla says:

I didn’t watch the whole thing, but I saw a few clips yesterday, and I was overwhelmed with that feeling of “this can’t be real, can it?”

  19. paranormalgirl says:

As a mental health professional, it pained me to watch.

  20. Kittycat says:

How in the world does kanye make it through the day

  21. MCV says:

Trumps face during the whole thing tho… He was like this man is crazy. Kim come collect your husband.

  22. Nancy says:

Most of us are out of our minds if someone we know dare whisper good words about this person. Kim has to be planning an escape route, and if she isn’t, I don’t understand. I couldn’t even watch. Shame on you Jim Brown, jersey 32 got tainted.

    • jwoolman says:

As long as Kanye pretty much stays away from her and the kids when he’s manic, Kim may be able to stay married to him without much stress. They will be forever linked via the kids, so divorce may not be too helpful. She might actually see less of him while married to him. And the divorce process would be a nightmare most likely.

I would assume that most of her brand doesn’t really rely on Kanye, and most people would see her as a sympathetic figure for sticking with him despite his lunacy.

    • Lala11_7 says:

@Nancy – I’ll be 51 in November…and I’m HERE TO TELL YA…JIM BROWN AIN’T NEVA BEEN ABOUT S————————————– That is ONE cold-hearted…mean man…he probably got the BIGGEST laugh out of that whole thing!

Kanye is mentally ill…I can NOT…drag tf out of someone who is mentally ill…even though I TRULY BELIEVE that 80% of what he’s saying…HE TRULY BELIEVES….I am STILL watching in real time…someone who needs to be on psychotropic drugs going through a manic state that is being beamed to media platforms all over the world…

It’s disgusting…that people are exploiting him at this point….

  23. Esmom says:

I can’t help but think what Kanye’s beloved mom would think. And while yes he is cancelled I can’t help but feel for him as he’s clearly unwell. He doesn’t even look like himself to me. My son had a brief episode of mania and it was frightening af, scarier than even he deepest depression. I can’t imagine what it would be like to humor someone in an extended period of what looks like mania to me. It is so scary and sad. He needs medical intervention, now.

    • Isabelle says:

His moms death was a bigger trigger for his mental decline. He hasn’t been in a “normal” state since. He may have deep untreated grief issues on top of the mental illness.

      • jwoolman says:

Kanye may also have brain damage from that horrific accident he was in long ago. Someone pointed out that he acts like he may have frontal lobe problems.

He definitely feels responsible for his mother’s death. During a period of relative lucidity, in an interview he said that she wanted plastic surgery (she died of complications) because she had come to live in LA for him, and that’s the culture there.

  24. skipper says:

I don’t have a problem with Kanye expressing his political beliefs and his support for Trump. What I have an issue with (not even a problem, more concern) is that Kanye is *clearly* unwell. I don’t think someone supporting Trump automatically makes them mentally ill but….look.at.him. This man needs mental health treatment. Kim, as his wife, needs to step in and get some help for him.

    • PeggingOut says:

Trust me on this…..short of attempting to have him declared mentally incompetent, Kim can’t control him. All she can do is attempt Kardashianesque damage control and hopefully send the kids to stay with her mom for a while.

      • skipper says:

I completely understand what you’re saying. However, there must be a way to get Kanye help. Kim has the power to have wrongfully convicted inmates released from prison. She has the power, money and the resources to get her husband help. I’m not blaming Kanye’s behavior on Kim because that would be unfair but there must be something she can do to help him and then follow-up with damage control for their images.

  25. Abby says:

I’m not sure i can watch. My dad is severely mentally ill and it’s hard to see in private, without any access to social media. Reading the recap was bad enough. I’m not blaming mental illness, but I’m out of excuses for Kanye (and Trump, for that matter).

I saw a tweet where Trump screamed at president obama for seeing Jay-Z during Sandy… but this is worse. Zero care for a huge swath of our country, just take up all the day with this kind of meeting. It’s disgusting.

  26. TheHeat says:

Truly, someone needs to do a major intervention with Kanye.
He may be right; he may not be bi-polar. These grandiose delusions…this total and complete narcissistic behaviour…the manic episodes…they could be signs of something much more serious. He should be checked for schizophrenia. Whatever the name of the mental illness(es), he has, the man needs to be medicated.

    • MattyLove says:

And this is the challenge with the US health system. He can only be forcibly medicated if he is an imminent (and imminent is legally interpreted in the literal sense) physical danger to himself or others. And then he can only be forcibly medicated until he is stable at which time he becomes free to stop his meds andstart the whole cycle over again…and again…and again. And he won’t be considered an imminent danger to himself until he comes down off the mania and falls into a profound depression (typical course) in which he becomes suicidal. My dad describes the depression following a manic episode as the deepest, darkest hole from which you can’t perceive any escape. He says, at that point, all he wants is to make the pain and anguish stop.

      • TheHeat says:

@MattyLove: My niece won many battles with her mental illness, but lost the war a few years ago. I hear you 100% on the challenges of the mental health ‘system’. It’s a frustrating brick wall for the loved ones.
I hope that someone can get through to Kanye, for the sake of his family.

      • Tiffany :) says:

MattyLove, thank you for highlighting the questions that I think as a society we need to address.

Putting someone in a facility or medicating them against their will is such a HUGE step. It removes rights from people, and is incredibly serious. I wish there was a middle ground option. I wish that people didn’t have to threaten to hurt or actually hurt someone in order to get the care they need. I had a friend in college that had her mental illness surface, and we could tell there was something drastically wrong, but it wasn’t until she seriously endangered herself that we could get her help. It was such a scary, scary place to be. I worried so much for her, and for the people around her.

I’m just so torn. I think of places like Russia and don’t want it to be too easy to force-medicate someone or institutionalize them, but at the same time I think we need greater protections than what we have now. I don’t have answers, but so many questions!

      • MattyLove says:

@TheHeat: I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like your niece fought valiantly. I hope that someday the system does more the help those who are afflicted, as well as responsibly empowering families to assist their loved ones in ways that are proactive rather than reactive.

  27. Eric says:

I hope everyone on this feed and especially American voters can see the obvious steps Emperor Zero and his crew take to introduce the next shiny object.

Remember the Fred Trump tax scam story? It was about a week (or a year) ago. The most disheartening thing is that the complicit MSM has fallen for the shiny object every time and actually HELPS EZ when the actual shit hits the fan.

I’m looking forward to the assassination and dismemberment of a US resident journalist becoming an afterthought.

    Kidding not kidding.

    • Darla says:

You’re right. I don’t know how to prevent this. I even forgot about the Fred Trump story. I feel as if I watch all of this in a daze.

    • Rescue Cat says:

As the saying goes, if you don’t read the newspaper you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper you’re misinformed.

    • Indiana Joanna says:

I can’t bring myself to watch the video. But I agree that drump is exploiting a severely ill man. Was he laughing at Kanye?

drump was using him as a distraction like he uses the hicks who come to his rallies. Although most of those hicks get some money.

  28. Raina says:

Two ill people talking to each other. Both with a disturbing amount of influence.
A few years ago, I would have thought this was an SNL skit. Now the jokes on us.

Yep, to me he looks like he’s definitely on something plus in a manic phase.

  29. Beth says:

Kanye seemed like a little kid who was extremely over excited to meet his favorite movie star, rock star, or like a kid in a toy store. My mother is bipolar, but I’ve never seen her reach that level of a manic phase. If Kim isn’t going to split up with him, she should make sure he’s taking his medicine and seeing the doctor.

    • jwoolman says:

Kim can’t make Kanye take his meds. She can’t sneak them into him with food or drink either, as you can with dogs and cats and children. It’s illegal to do that. He’s a grown man and has full control over what meds he takes or doesn’t take. This is protective for all of us, although it’s heart-wrenching for a parent or spouse to watch when their loved one slips back into chaos because they stop taking meds.

Besides, Kim isn’t around Kanye very much. He works far far away and doesn’t visit often.

      • Jayna says:

Kim doesn’t have any issue, though, with his love of Trump, etc. She may have an issue with his being off his meds, but she stands behind him as far as his support of the Orange Idiot. No pass for Kim.

    • MattyLove says:

You’re fortunate she hasn’t been at that level. During one manic phase, my dad drive blew through my parent’s retirement $ by driving all over the country buying up tractors for the farm he was going to build to “feed the world.” He now only has his name on one of their accounts, which my mom is responsible for transferring money into when he needs it. He’s also rapid-cycling bipolar so it’s these sorts of situations on repeat plus 10-12 suicide attempts per year. He now is on dialysis because he destroyed his kidneys by trying to OD on Lithium. When he’s stable and medicated, he’s the nicest guy in the world. When he’s unstable he’s a completely different person.

      • H says:

Hugs to you and your family, @MattyLove. Because I take lithium I haven’t been manic in years, but I do remember that feeling of euphoria and my family unable to help me besides driving me to doctor’s appointments. But your dad is right after the mania is the worst sort of depression. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.

      • MattyLove says:

I admire your strength and dedication to being well, H! I hope my dad someday attains the same!

  30. Jessica says:

Is no one gonna talk about his misogynistic reasons for not wanting to vote for Hillary.?…

    • RBC says:

I thought Kanye had mentioned once he didn’t bother to vote in the last election?

      • Jessica says:

I didn’t say he voted I said his reason for not wanting to vote for Hillary was that as a male he felt alienated by Hillary’s campaign slogan I am with her. (which by the way wasn’t actually her slogan stronger together was her slogan.) he’s basically saying she made him feel emasculated..

    • Cay says:

      Thank you!

    • Tiffany :) says:

I thought that was such a horrible statement, but I am glad it was said out loud so that misogyny can be recognized for existing. “Men are under attack and the true victims”, yet women can’t even use feminine pronouns in their campaigns. FFS.

    • otaku fairy... says:

So basically his not feeling emasculated by a woman being in a position of power/ not dominating or being the center of a discussion as a man is more objectionable to Kanye than a man like Donald Trump being put in that position of power, no matter how evil and unqualified that man is? Whole religions are built on men thinking this way. This speaks volumes about Kanye as a person. I do believe he’s spiraling, and I have sympathy for that especially because he’s a parent, a husband, and somebody’s child (not sure if he has any siblings), but his support of Trump seems to be more a symptom of his ego, childishness, self-absorption, and deep-seated issues with women and masculinity than anything else. Men don’t even have to have bipolar to have the worldview Kanye has.

  31. BlueSky says:

This just reiterated Orange Mussolini’s need for adoration from celebrities. No other self respecting A lister would come near this man.

Also Sinbad said this on Twitter and I agree: we need to stop with all this trying to explaining him. Kanye is showing everyone who he is and what he believes. He is wear he wants to be.

I finally got around to erasing all his music off my playlist.

It’s also insulting to think that black people are just going to line up to support this orange turd because of Kanye. They are both delusional

  32. adastraperaspera says:

Another outsized spectacle to distract from Trump’s utter failings. Thanks to the Celebitchy writers and editors for seeing early on that the potent drugs of entertainment and fame are terribly dangerous when in the hands of a demagogue. The main stream news outlets trivialize these at our peril.

  33. Jessica says:

This is so sad, shameful, disgusting, cringeworthy, embarrassing & humiliating. I thoroughly despise both men.

  34. Valerie says:

    This is disturbing.

  35. Renee says:

Kim is not responsible for Kanye’s actions. Period. However, she is responsible for bringing a third child into this mess. I will hold her responsible for that.

  36. Pandy says:

Why do these storms never take out Mar a Lago.

  37. Harryg says:

This all makes me think of that Poe story where mental patients have taken over the hospital, pretending to be doctors.

  38. Mego says:

You know what? I’m tired of blaming mania for Kanye’s antics. I don’t like him and really hated what he did to Taylor. He’s a narcissistic idiot and this press conference was shameful as the two people featured have no shame.

  39. Jayna says:

The worst part was how he didn’t have a connection for Hillary as POTUS because he couldn’t get into her #Imwithher slogan. So a woman has to jump through hoops to inspire him as our president, but Trump’s hat made Kanye feel like a superhero.

It was so embarrassing watching that shi t – show. And Kim has no problem with this. She just said the other day Kanye needs to communicate better, is all. Kanye doesn’t know squat about any issue, and he seems to have no problem with all of the horrible things that Trump stands for.

Utterly disgusting. And Trump’s face the whole time was priceless.

Kanye’s mysogyny was there for all of us to see. Trump is full of narcissism and delusion about his brilliance and greatness, and Kanye is the same way. That’s why he admires Trump. And they are two of the most inarticulate men in the world.

  40. Yes Doubtful says:

I could not be married to someone who is in love with Trump like that.

  41. Sandy says:

This Guy is one sorry person, he is welcome to have is own thoughts, opinions, but why do we have to listen to an unhinged person? He is not changing one mind, in fact, he is dividing people just like his idol, he only cares about himself, i believe he is getting paid, he has an agenda, let more Qualified people speak on these topics, Obama was right, and thats why kanye is acting out, because Obama called him out on his mess.

  42. Amelie says:

I refuse to watch any footage from this. I haven’t watched any of the SNL footage either. I stopped supporting Kanye long ago, I always knew he was unhinged and disturbed. It was always so obvious to me. It’s tough because a lot of this is his mental illness (being impulsive, ranting, thoughts all over the place). If he were properly medicated, he might still have the same dumb views but at least he might make some sense and not make rash decisions. Kanye is an emotional and passionate person in general but those traits are magnified one hundred fold when he is manic. Would the real Kanye actually take a meeting with Donald Trump in the Oval Office? How much is mental illness and how much is it just plain Kanye? I guess we’ll never know if he refuses to take care of himself.

  43. Anna says:

I think this is ultimate proof that Trump appeals to mentally ill people

  44. Meg says:

Feels like kim divorced guys in the past for a lot less than this-

  45. nikki says:

ONE HUNDRED percent done with him at this point. Howard-Hughes-like mental issues or not, a platform is a platform, and I find his politics horrible.

  46. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Okay, did anyone else watch the NBC clip of Kanye above? Can you say heavily edited? My god! Yesterday, I was so uncomfortable that I had to turn off the streaming video after maybe 45 seconds. This nbc clip is so edited that I was able to watch it all. I’m guessing they took his most coherent moments and pieced them together? I’m not saying he’s a compelling speaker, but he doesn’t look as unhinged as the video I TRIED to view yesterday. Sure, nbc – let’s try to normalize this entire thing.

  47. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Another thing, drumpf loves anyone who loves him or says nice things about him. That’s all it takes. If serial killers Ted Bundy & John Gacy were alive & expressed love for Drumpf, he’d probably be flattered even by that. 🙄

    • Valerie says:

Ugh, sadly true. “This Ted Bundy, a very good guy. Very good. Wouldn’t let me get my own drink out of the fridge; he is that hospitable!”

  48. MSat says:

This was weird shit. I still don’t understand what the point of all this actually was. It was all over the place and rambling and I don’t know what. What was he supposed to be there to talk about?

Also: there is no effing way Trump is going to end stop-and-frisk. That’s not going to happen. He was just singing the praises of stop-and-frisk two nights ago.

  49. Rescue Cat says:

Need to stop focusing on distractions and stay focused on:

    Improving the welfare state,
    Cutting military spending,
stopping: tax cuts for the rich, Stopping deregulation
Stopping the erosion of abortion rights,
    Protecting the environment,
    Ending the drug war,
    Introducing universal healthcare,
    Introducing a living wage
    Better gun control, etc.

  50. MARISA says:

Yet George is the one that died t care about black people…sit down Kanye, I guess Puerto Rico doesn’t count?

  51. Em says:

Aapparently Roseanne also struggles with mental health issues if we’re gonna make excuses for Kanye then should we also make excuses for her?

    • MattyLove says:

I think a lot of us are understanding Kanye’s comments within the context of his mental illness…not excusing his comments. The problematic part is that Trump and the media members present for this spectacle were willing to capitalize on it.

  52. judith reeder says:

IMO, Trump is just using Kanye because he thinks it will help him get more African Americans to vote for him!!!

  53. Lynne says:

I think it’s gone further than just him being bipolar and off his meds. I think he is taking something and whatever it is, it’s not prescribed for him, and it’s not for being bipolar.

    • CairinaCat says:

Certain stimulants can induce bipolar psychosis. Which is bipolar mania with psychotic behaviors.
      That’s where I think he’s at.
My youngest son has this happen, he’s 13 and I know isn’t taking street drugs because he is literally always with me, so it can happen without hard drugs.
But, Kanye is most likely also doing something that’s making his bipolar mania next level.

  54. Christine says:

He’s lost the plot, if he ever had it. He’s also mentally ill. This will not end well.
