Losing your luggage sucks, but the worst part is when your airline tells you it has no idea where your luggage is. Trakdot is a little battery-powered gadget that you can throw in your bag. When you land, just check your phone and you'll know whether or not your bag landed with you. And if not, at least you'll know which airport it's at.
Trakdot has a built-in GSM chip—no GPS here. It can find your bags' location without using a lot of battery power. (It's approved by the FAA for travel, by the way.) For $13 a year, you get setup with the company's service that sends you alerts on SMS or via the Trackdot smartphone app. The gadget costs 50 bucks. If you travel a lot, that's nothing compared to the value of piece of mind. Trakdot's site isn't live yet, but here's where it will be.
