Trinidad and Tobago all-rounder Akeal Hosein is firmly focused on West Indies duty as he prepares for the 2nd ODI against India on Wednesday at Ahmedabad.

The West Indies lost the opening match by six wickets on Sunday with Hosein taking 1/46 in his nine overs.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Mega Auction is on 12-13 February and Hosein, who has attracted attention with his accurate left-arm orthodox spin and his lower-order hitting, could receive his maiden contract.

However, the T&T spinner says he is firmly focused on helping the West Indies team win the ODI series.

"Just to speak about the IPL, I am not focused on that right now. I am focused on winning the series. We know that the IPL is the biggest league around but once I do the right things and perform well for my team, other doors will open. So for me definitely the focus is now and trying to win these two games here and win this ODI series," said Hosein.

"These two games are very important for me because it will determine the series for us if we win. If we win these two games we win the series," he added.

Hosein has 21 wickets in 13 ODIs and 15 in 18 T20Is. he averages 18.64 with the bat in T20 cricket with a strike rate of 121.39.

West Indies were bowled out for 176 in 43.5 overs on Sunday, with India getting the win with 22 overs unused.
