12.8.20 | Football

PHILADELPHIA - The Burlsworth Trophy released the 67-nominee list for the distinguished award today. Temple offensive lineman Vincent Picozzi was named to the list.

Throughout his career, Picozzi took snaps along all five positions of the offensive line while taking more than 200 snaps at three different positions. To begin Picozzi's graduate season, he was named to the preseason All-AAC first team by Athlon and to the second team by Phil Steele. Throughout the season, Picozzi started at two different positions (LT, RG) along the offensive line and took snaps at one other (LG). Picozzi is one of only five offensive linemen in the FBS to have blocked on 230 or more pass attempts this season and allowed only one or less pressure. He is currently graded as the 12th best pass blocking offensive lineman in the nation (88.7) according to Pro Football Focus. In his redshirt sophomore year, Picozzi was the only Temple offensive lineman to start all 13 games along with JoVahn Fair. He was named the APEX Predator Player of the Game against Houston (11/10), and was awarded #theSTANDARD Player of the Game against Maryland (9/15), Tulsa (9/20), Houston (11/10), and USF (11/17).

The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in America who began his career as a Walk-On and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with FBS (D1) football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department. In the award's eleventh year, the Trophy is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, former University of Arkansas Walk-On and All-American offensive lineman.

The Burlsworth Trophy will host an awards ceremony virtually on January 4, 2021 to honor the three finalists and announce the 2020 winner.
