From 13-15 November 2019, more than 70 Arctic Indigenous leaders gathered in Rovaniemi, Finland, for the 6th Arctic Leaders' Summit. The Summit is a longstanding, high-level political gathering of Indigenous leaders from across the circumpolar North. It's a unique forum in which Indigenous peoples set their own priorities for discussion, bridge differences and create common understanding - particularly on matters related to the Arctic environment and sustainable development.
We spoke to Aili Keskitalo, President of the Saami Parliament in Norway and Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for the organization of the International Year of Indigenous Languages 2019, about how Indigenous languages can benefit from digitalization and her hopes for a decade of Indigenous Languages.
