WASHINGTON — Today, Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, announced that Monica Kerrigan will be assuming the role of Executive Director for the organization. Kerrigan is currently the Vice President for Innovations and Technical Leadership at Jhpiego, which is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University.

Statement from Alexis McGill Johnson, Acting President, Planned Parenthood Federation of America:

“We’re thrilled to have Monica Kerrigan joining us to lead Planned Parenthood Global. Monica is a seasoned veteran of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and brings decades of leadership experience and a lifelong commitment of service to this work. This work has never been more important — we’re in a critical time when the sexual and reproductive health and rights of people around the world are under attack.

Monica will lead the work of Planned Parenthood Global to advance the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people, women, and families around the world — no matter what and no matter where. All people deserve access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. We look forward to begin our work with Monica Kerrigan at the helm to build on the legacy of Planned Parenthood Global.”

Statement from Monica Kerrigan, incoming Executive Director, Planned Parenthood Global:

“I am honored to step in as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Global, an organization with a long history of supporting partners to provide and protect the sexual and reproductive health and rights of people around the world, including safe abortion. At this moment in history when the stakes for abortion access are so high in the U.S. and globally, Planned Parenthood is fighting back, because abortion is health care and health care is a human right. I am excited to continue in this great tradition of service and advocacy and to work alongside the Planned Parenthood team who is so committed to global health.”
