The 15th annual KronosWorks 2012 user conference, organized by Kronos Inc., which celebrated its 35th birthday this year, had a chockfull of bullish and optimistic news announcements for more than 2,000 attendees. The Kronos InTouch time clock with touch screen, graphical user interface (GUI), and cloudready architecture, which was the main highlight at the KronosWorks 2011 event (see article), has already had about 20,000 units shipped. At this year’s event, Kronos revealed the latest workforce applications available for the Kronos InTouch time clock. The latest apps are available via the Kronos InTouch App Platform and are aimed at improving the productivity of the frontline workforce (see the press release).
Kronos InTouch App Store
With the InTouch App Platform, Kronos partners, customers, and third-party developers can create and share particular workforce applications for the time clock. Kronos offers an InTouch software developer kit (SDK) to allow developers to write their own workforce applications in the device’s Web browser interface. The latest InTouch workforce applications include the following:- Wayfinder—Developed by Axsium Group, a workforce management (WFM) consultant, the app helps employees more easily find their way to their work location, using floor plan maps and layouts available on the InTouch device. Employees, particularly those within a large, multi-building complex or that need to report to different locations within their work day or work week, can use the Wayfinder application to quickly pinpoint a designated work station or identify the location of their manager or team.
- EnrollMe—Developed by the WFC Group, another WFM implementation consultant, the app gives employees the ability to join their employer’s health care plan during the open enrollment period using the InTouch device, eliminating the need for time-consuming forms for each employee. The app gives employees easy access to information that allows them to compare and contrast plan options and guides them through the process to ensure a simple open enrollment.
- Employee Survey—Kronos’ own app allows an employer to host a survey to solicit and capture employee feedback, ranging from things such as finding out who will attend the company picnic to surveying employees about their benefit options. The app aims to boost employee engagement, increase worker satisfaction, and make for a more productive work environment.
Other popular workforce applications for the InTouch App Platform include Quick Charge, which was developed by MM Hayes to provide the ability to order lunch from the company cafeteria, for delivery or pickup. Payment for lunch can be deducted directly from the worker’s paycheck, making ordering lunch a quick and painless, cash-free transaction.
