Like it or not, Beyoncé Knowles proved that she was indeed strong enough to bear the children, before promptly getting back to the business of world domination. And whether born from a sincere desire to share her new family and life with her adoring fans or a mere publicity stunt, the 31-year-old megastar has been gradually revealing more and more behind-the-scenes glimpses of a day-in-the-life of Bey through her newly created Instagram and her personal blog. An upcoming HBO documentary directed and produced by none other than the film’s star, Beyoncé herself, will likely add another human dimension to her seemingly polished-to-perfection façade (the primary object of complaint surrounding the model artist).

“The film is a multifaceted portrait of the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer, businesswoman, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, wife and mother, showing off the extraordinary gifts that have made her a global phenomenon, and stripping away the veneer of stardom,” read a press release regarding the anticipated documentary. “It includes extensive first-person footage, some of it shot by Beyoncé on her laptop, in which she reflects on the realities of celebrity, the refuge she finds onstage and the transcendent joy of becoming a mother last year.”

The press release continued to promise home movies revealing the star’s childhood and her close bond with her family, as well as the challenges she faced when deciding to manage her career and build her own company, Parkwood Entertainment. Her intense work ethic in the studio and during live performance rehearsals will also be spotlighted in the documentary, particularly her return to the business after the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, this past January. Set to air February 16, 2013, the as-yet-untitled doc won’t be the first to center on Beyoncé, but it will be the first to feature her in the director’s chair, controlling the final product. It’s a crucial detail that might, in fact, beg one to question how raw and intimate Beyoncé will actually allow the documentary to be, given her history of portraying a polished image.

Giving Bey the benefit of the doubt, let’s suppose that her apparent confidence and security in herself as an artist, wife and mother has granted her the courage to reveal the personal tidbits on which we—the general, nosy public—have been dying to get our hands on. From disclosing hair secrets to balancing the professional and personal, here are five things that we hope Queen Bey will be up to sharing with us.

1. More Jay and Bey Time

By now, most of us have seen the many photos and performances in which Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z throw googly eyes at one another while courtside at a basketball game or being publicly snapped by the paparazzi upon exiting vehicles. We have seen the matching ring finger tattoos donning Bey’s favorite number, four. We were even given the opportunity to see her wedding dress in her music video for “I Was Here.” Still, what we would give to be a fly on the wall during the couple’s date nights? To catch those cute, relatable moments of them catching a movie on Netflix one weekday or learning what goes on in their yacht when they’re not lounging about on the deck? Do they have your everyday tiff during which Beyoncé leaves the room in frustration? How do they make up with one another? What are their cutesy nicknames and what kind of playful pranks, if any, do they play on one another? While leaving some things to the imagination is not only desired but sacred in the reality of being a star, the rare, on-stage interaction between Jay and Bey is way too adorable to leave their romantic relationship behind closed doors.

2. Take Us to the Hair Master

While Beyoncé may not be your particular cup of tea, there is no denying the fabulousness that is her hair. Whether rocking a lacefront wig, her natural hair, or braids, Bey has proved that a consistently flawless ‘do is possible. Now, her bank account probably permits her to obtain the best stylists and products that money can buy, but that doesn’t mean that most women wouldn’t kill for the chance to catch a few tricks of the trade from her hair team. The documentary will inevitably feature countless moments of Beyoncé getting prepped for performances, so hopefully the director will decide to place the camera’s focus directly on her lovely locks at least once.

3. Balancing Her New Family and Her Career

When you take away the glamour, riches, and fame, at the end of the day Beyoncé is still a normal human being, despite how supernatural those things may make her appear. Similar to most working women across the globe, she decided to have a child despite the demanding nature of her job, but showed no signs of putting the brakes on her career once that child had been born. Then again, her access to resources that most mothers can only dream about places her out of the realm of relatability when it comes to motherhood. But that doesn’t stop us from wanting to know exactly how many nannies Blue Ivy requires, if Solange played a crucial role in prepping her big sister, when Bey draws the line in terms of working and spending quality time with Blue and Jay, and what awesome father-and-daughter activities Blue and Jay participate in when Mommy is in the studio. How priceless would it be to see Jay changing a diaper or two?

4. Her Relationship With Her Parents

It is no secret that Beyoncé has had a complicated work relationship with her father, Matthew Knowles, as seen in the many allegations read in the papers throughout the years. Her mother, Tina, on the other hand, seems to have remained her rock throughout her steadily rising career, serving as equal parts stage mother and costume director. Reports claim that the baby scandal in which her father became embroiled wedged a gap between Beyoncé and the man whom she dedicated a tribute song, “Daddy,” to on her first solo album. Although certainly not obliged to, if Beyoncé were to address her current relationship with her father and mother, as well as the role, if any, he plays in her new family, she would seem all the more stronger and vulnerable.

5. Flaws and All

Through picture-perfect performances, albums and an impeccable public persona, Beyoncé has undoubtedly taken the throne as this generation’s queen of pop. But what is perfection without a bit of a mess? God only knows how much she’s had to sacrifice to make it to the top; but now that she’s arrived, Beyoncé would do well to let her gorgeous hair down and just live a little. The Instagram and personal, makeup free photos on her blog were a step in the right direction, but even those images seemed too spot-on. Show us some dark spots, Bey. Show us those days when you do not really feel like being polite and would much rather be alone with you, yourself, and a tub of Cherry Garcia. Show us that Sasha Fierce does sometimes make it off the stage, causing you to enter diva mode on everyone within a mile radius, despite your best intentions. You have already won the world over and your legacy is pretty much a done deal. Some flaws would be much appreciated at this point, if only to prove once and for all that you are not an android, but actually more human than we could ever imagine.
