Blue Devils Host Final Home Meet of Regular Season

DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke swimming and diving teams will look to send out 13 senior student-athletes in style Saturday at Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion. The Blue Devils entertain Queens University of Charlotte, William & Mary and divers from UNCW in the regular season home finale.

Diving events begin at 12 p.m. Saturday, followed by the program's Senior Day ceremony at 12:45 p.m. and the remainder of the meet at 1 p.m. A facility and parking map is available here.

Blue Devil Basics
The Duke squads open 2019 Saturday after wrapping up the fall portion of the competition schedule with a strong showing at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn. The women's team finished second out of six teams over the course of three days in Knoxville while the Blue Devil men were third in the final team standings. Senior Mackenzie Willborn and juniors Nathaniel Hernandez and Miles Williams were all recognized for their performances at the invitational with ACC Performer of the Week honors while junior Alyssa Marsh was tabbed the Duke Student-Athlete of the Week.

The Blue Devil women maintained a top-20 spot in December's TYR Top 25 released by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, coming in at No. 20.

The end of 2018 saw the Blue Devils embark on the program's annual training trips, with the swimmers completing long-course training in Aruba and the divers traveling to Puerto Rico. For more on the teams' travels, follow the Blue Devils on Instagram.

Duke vs. UNCW
Saturday, 12 p.m. l Durham, N.C. – Taishoff Aquatics Pavilion
Action in Taishoff gets underway Saturday beginning with a diving-only competition between Duke and UNCW. The Seahawk men return to competition this weekend after rounding out their fall at the Patriot Invitational in Fairfax, Va., while the women opened the spring with victories over Campbell and UNCA last weekend. UNCW's swimmers compete at Davidson Friday.

The Queens University of Charlotte women topped the Division II TYR Top 25 poll released January 9 while the men's squad came in at No. 2. The Royals host Catawba College Friday evening before traveling to Durham for Saturday's tri-meet.

The William & Mary squads rounded out the fall at November's TYR Invitational hosted by Northwestern. Both the Tribe men and women placed second in the field that included athletes from Northwestern, Michigan State, Saint Louis University, Illinois at Chicago and Truman State University.

Last season saw the Blue Devils travel to Charlotte to square off with the Royals, splitting action as the women came away with a 158-103 victory and the men were defeated by a narrow 139-123 margin. The Duke women are 5-0 historically against the Queens women and the men 4-1. Duke last faced the Tribe in a two-day tri-meet in 2016, coming away with a pair of victories. The Blue Devil men are 22-6 historically when going head-to-head against William & Mary and the women's program boasts a 13-5 ledger.

After welcoming Queens University of Charlotte, William & Mary and the UNCW divers Saturday, the Blue Devils conclude regular season dual meet action Saturday, Feb. 2 against North Carolina. The Tar Heels will host the annual matchup between the Tobacco Road rivals at 12 p.m. at Koury Natatorium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
