Morra earns career-high in strong effort

South Bend, Ind. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team (9-7, 0-3 ACC) came up short against top-ranked Notre Dame (16-1, 4-0 ACC), 78-48, on Sunday afternoon in South Bend. Notre Dame guard Marina Mabrey led all players with 18 points.

Wake Forest freshman forward Christina Morra impressed with a career-high 13 points and nine rebounds coming off the bench, giving the Demon Deacons some life late in the second half. Ivana Raca reached double-figures for the third-consecutive game with 12 points for the Deacs.

The Fighting Irish set the tone with a 22-6 first quarter advantage and took a 37-15 lead into the half. The top team in the land made the most of opportunities around the rim (52 points in the paint) and their ability to grab rebounds on both ends of the floor.

The Deacs came to life in the second half, using multiple runs to build some momentum . With a 55-33 advantage on the boards relentless shooting efforts, Notre Dame was able to keep Wake Forest out of reach of a comeback.
