Become a Commissioner and make an impact on poverty in Milwaukee County.

SDC is seeking candidates to fill the District 3, District 4 & District 5 seats on SDC’s Board of Commissioners. Candidates will be up for election for the community representative seats that serve on behalf of district 3, 4 & 5, comprised of low-income residents living in Milwaukee County. Community members interested in having their name appear on the ballots must meet the requirements for candidacy.

Why should you consider being an Elected District Commissioner of the Social Development Commission?

The SDC Board of Commissioners provides guidance and leadership to the Social Development Commission. SDC is the largest Community Action Agency in both Milwaukee County and the state of Wisconsin. The agency delivers programs impacting the lives of Milwaukee County residents experiencing poverty. The leadership of the Board assists SDC in achieving its mission, Empowering Milwaukee County residents with the resources to move beyond poverty. 

Here’s your chance to use your voice to impact your community.

Become an Elected Commissioner for District 3, 4 or 5. If you live in District 3, 4 or 5, pick up a packet of information today to be placed on the ballot for the Commissioner elections on Tuesday, April 30th. Packets are available at 1730 W. North Avenue.

Save the date: Election day is Tuesday, April 30th, 2024. If you live in District 3, 4 or 5, vote for your elected commissioner, or become a write-in candidate, from 12:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024.

Write-In Candidates Are Welcome!

To Vote:

  • Be a Milwaukee County resident
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a legal immigrant
  • Be a resident of district 3, 4 or 5
  • Provide one form of identification, such as a driver’s license, Wisconsin identification card, a Senior Citizen ID, etc.
  • Proof of residency, such as a utility bill or rent receipt (something with your address)
