Several football fans received an early morning wake-up call from police as further arrests were made following the disorder at last week's Potteries derby.

Trouble broke out at the Checkatrade Trophy clash between Port Vale and Stoke City under-21s, which saw seats at Vale Park ripped up, the toilets destroyed and flares thrown onto the pitch.

In the wake of the match, which Port Vale won 4-0, Staffordshire Police launched a major investigation to bring those responsible to justice.

And this morning, another three suspects were added to the growing number of arrests made as the force's Tactical Support Team descended on a number of addresses.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: "This morning, officers have arrested a 34-year-old man and a 47-year-old, both from Stoke-on-Trent, at their home addresses on suspicion of violent disorder.

"They remain in custody at this time."

Anyone with any information about the investigation is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 92 of December 6. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
