PASCAGOULA, Mississippi -- The status hearing of the fourth teen charged in connection to a 2011 escape attempt at the Jackson County Youth Detention Center was continued Friday morning.

Christopher Robert Kutterhoff, 17, is due back in court Nov. 19 for his status hearing.

Three other 17-year-old men pleaded guilty this week to multiple charges stemming from the July 6, 2011, crime.

Calip Emil Johnson and Jamal Deshun Williams each pleaded guilty to 5 charges, while Victor Lamar Otempong pleaded guilty to 6 charges.

Those 3 teens each admitted to 2 counts of kidnapping, 1 count of armed robbery and 1 count of attempted jail escape.

Additionally, Otempong admitted to 1 count of aggravated assault on a peace officer and 1 count of simple assault on a peace officer.

Johnson also admitted to 1 count of aggravated assault on a peace officer, while Williams pleaded guilty to 1 count of simple assault on a peace officer.

The teenagers attempted a takeover escape from the detention center and injured security officers in the process, authorities said.

The incident, which was caught on tape, occurred at 9:35 p.m.

Three unarmed Mississippi Security Police detention guards notified the Pascagoula Police Department that they were being held inside the complex and that numerous juveniles were attempting to escape.

The kidnapping charges were the result of 2 male guards being confined in handcuffs and leg irons and a female guard being locked in a jail cell, according to the indictments, and the armed robbery charges resulted from the teens robbing and threatening the guards while wielding makeshift knives.

The assault charges are the result of the teens injuring 2 male guards, striking 1 in the face and head and kicking and dragging another around the facility by his leg irons.

All 4 teens were originally served indictments as adults on 9 felony charges, including 3 counts of kidnapping, 3 counts of armed robbery and 1 count each on aggravated assault on a peace officer, simple assault on a peace officer and attempted jail escape.

The state dismissed several charges in Johnson, Williams and Otempong's cases.

Those 3 are slated for sentencing Jan. 10, 2013.
