The Hinton community is reaching out to help one family who lost it all.

“When tragedy strikes, to us as a whole community or just one particular family, everyone is always offering something. Within a matter of minutes, the phone starts ringing with a what can we do to help,” Laura Lilly, Hinton Hope Foundation Executive Director, said.

Lilly said Hinton Hope Foundation is just one of many places offering help to the family through this hard time. John Gilbert owns Adam’s Storage and Gotta Stop. He is offering help through his convenience store and storage unit business.

“Right now we’re accepting just basically household items and as soon as the family gets to a point to come down and look at the stuff, they can have whatever they want. And whatever they don’t want, we can yard sale off,” Gilbert said.

He is storing all of these items in a storage unit through his business. He said he already received a ton of response and items donated.

“I thought it was a good idea to donate a unit and do a little advertisement through facebook. Since then, I’ve had a great turnout and several people have contacted me about donating different things. Coffee tables, sofas, just anything you can think of,” Gilbert said.

Other places, such as the Kroger in Hinton and Pops, are also working to ensure the family gets back on their feet after the loss.
